Best players of Mexican LNBP round 28 (by Interperformances) - Jan 11, 2018

American Brent Jackson (192-G-94, agency: Paris Global Sports) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Libertadores and that's him to receive a Interperformances LNBP Player of the Week award for round 28.
The 23-year old guard had the game-high 40 points adding nine rebounds for Libertadores in his team's victory, helping them to beat Correcaminos (#5, 12-12) 98-91. Libertadores maintains the 11th position in Mexican LNBP. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Libertadores have already lost 20 games and recorded just six victories. In the team's last game Jackson had a remarkable 92.9% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He just recently signed at Libertadores and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Brent Jackson averages just after two games 33.5ppg and 6.5rpg. Worth to mention Jackson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American forward Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) of Soles. Phelps impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Soles to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Toros (#6, 12-13) 93-72. Soles' 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 17-9 record is not bad at all. Phelps is a newcomer at Soles and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.4ppg (#3). He also registered 9.1 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Antonio Pena (204-PF-86) of Santos (#8). Pena showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Santos, leading his team to a 99-95 win against slightly lower-ranked Abejas (#9, 9-15). The chances of Santos ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 14 games, recording just twelve victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Pena could help Santos to bring them higher in the standings. Pena has a great season in Mexico. After 25 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.8ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 7.4rpg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Tomas Sanchez (190-G-91) of Abejas - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Jaime Lloreda (204-C-80) of Mineros - 18 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Michael Perez (190-G-91) of Libertadores - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Justin Avalos (190-G-87) of Santos - 20 points and 3 rebounds
8. Arim Solares (202-F/C-83) of Santos - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Kohl Meyer (190-G) of Soles - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Wilfredo Pagan (184-PG-76) of Toros - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
