| |  | Defeating Fupade Coast-Super Santiago 98-94 in final game, Tigres de la UdeM became the champions of the first edition of the tournament named Viejas Glorias de Baloncesto, in which for the first time were meeting themselves the titleholders of the two top Nicaraguan leagues. The game was very spectacular and close till the end. Veteran Jason Walters (196-G-71, college: Mt.Senario) was the game top scorer at 29 points, Keyshane Reed (183-G-84) added 26 at the winning side and Lester Ferrety 22. In Fupade, Carlos Gonzalez (177-G-80) was the main performer with 23 points, followed by Jose Perez (180-G-80) with 20 and by Alvin Camacho (191-G/F-78) with 17 |

| |  | The Nicaraguan league named Primer Torneo Nacional de Baloncesto started the last wekend in Managua. At the last time, even Jaguares de la UAM decided to withdraw from the competition. | |  | Thanks to PinoleroSports.com website, we can say that Tiburones Bancentro won' t participate to the Primer Torneo Nacional de Baloncesto that will reunite the best ACB and Liga Premier clubs. Luis Pavon , owner of the Tiburones club, stated to media that his team is preparing with great intensity the participation to the upcoming 'William Ramrez Tournment' and left his players free to join some other teams for the new league. This is why we should see soon Manuel McKenzie (192-F-83) and Vandell Thomas (176-G-86) to play with Chontales, Noel McKenzie (188-G-78) and Johnny Lampson (198-F/C-80) to strengthen Puerto Cabezas, and Anthony Gayle (185-G-80) to join Vikingos de Valentis Pizza. |

 | William Ramirez Tournment introduced to media | |

| |  | The International Basketball Tournment 'William Ramrez has been introduced to media last weekend by Mario Valle, President of Organizing Committee. The fourth edition of the competition has been scheduled for October 11-18 in Managua and at least six teams will participate, from USA (the Houston Blazers), Cuba, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Honduras (Policia Nacional). The two teams from NIcaragua should be top ACB clubs Tigres UdeM and Tiburones Bancentro. The participation of the Cuban team has been directly negotiated from the Nicaraguan Sports Institute (IND) and it could also be the National Team Senior. All the games will be played in the Universidad de Managua (UdeM) Gymnasium. |

| |  | Last week, has been introduced to media a sort of Nicaraguan National League, that should start next week in Managua. The name of the competition is 'Primer Torneo Nacional de Baloncesto', and it will be organized by Movimiento Bosco Monje and Nicaspeed company. ACB top teams Tigres UdeM and Tiburones Bancentro agred to compete, like Liga Premier champions Fupade Coast-Super Santiago and runner-up Jaguares UAM. It seems that other clubs will participate to this competition and that the tournment will be backed by ACB officials and all the Nicaraguan Sports Institute (IND) together with the FENIBAL. The complete list of the teams registered till now is as folllows: Tigres UdeM Caimanes de Carazo Tiburones de Chontales Docs de Masaya Cereales Supremos Vikingos de Valentis Pizza Delfines de la BICU Tiburones Bancentro UNAM Managua Fupade Coast-Super Santiago Jaguares UAM The games should be played in the UdeM Gym and Polideportivo Espaa Arena, the official tipoff should be on september 20. | |  | Defeating 89-81 Tiburones Bancentro in Game 5 of the Finals, Tigres de la UdeM became the ACB Champions 2008. The final aggregate was 4-1 for Tigres, and the best players of the decisive Game 5 were Keyshawn Reed (183-G-84) with 31 pts, Jason Walters (196-G-71, college: Mt.Senario) with 18, William Waterhouse (200-C-75) with 16 and Edwin Watters (191-G-74) with 14. Pedro Salazar (204-C-72) scored 28 points for Tiburones, and Carlos Gonzalez (177-G-80) added 18. Martin Amador (193-F-75) was limited by the fauls, but was named the same the Finals MVP, thanks to his outstanding performing in the first four games. Keyshawn Reed, instead, was unanimously identified as the most spectacular player in the league. |

 | Fupade Coast wins Premier League and travels to El Salvador | |

| |  | Thanks to PinoleroSports.com website, we can say that Fupade Coast-Super Santiago won last week the 'Premier League', organized by the Nicaraguan Basketball Federation (FENIBAL) and immediately traveled to El Salvador to meet the local National Team for some test matches. The first game ended 83-58 for Fupade Coast, with Richard Hawking (183-G-82) topping the scorers at 24 and Alvin Camacho (191-G/F-78) adding 20 at the winning side. |

| |  | After winning Game 3, Tigres de la UdeM defeated 72-69 Tiburones-Bancentro and now need of only another win to become the ACB Champions for the first time in their history. The hero of Game 4 was Martin Amador (193-F-75), who scored 20 points to lead Tigres to the win, well assisted by import Keyshawn Reed (183-G-84), with 17 pts and by Jason Walters (196-G-71, college: Mt.Senario), with 13. | |  | This week started the Finals of the 11th edition of the ACB league. Traditional powerhouse Tiburones Bancentro advanced, one time more, to the final act of the competition, where they meet Tigres de la Universidad de Managua, at their debut in the Final Series. Well coached by Edwin El Chino Valdivia, who has a winning tradition vs. Tiburones, Tigres took Game 1, 92-87, but the night after Tiburones answered winning Game 2, 83-72, with Johnny Lampson (198-F/C-80) and Maycal Abner (198-F-82) leading the way at 17 points each, while Keyshawn Reed (183-G-84) was the game top scorer with 23 pts in losing effort. Game 3 will be played tomorrow night, the Finals are best of seven games |
