Argentina and Chile to fight for title in Santiago de Chile - Mar 16, 2014

Argentina wrapped up their ODESUR Games preliminary round campaign with another victory. They knocked down Chile 79:54 to ensure 4-0 record. Juan Emiliano Fernandez (196-G/F-91) and Nicolas Romani delivered 13 points each to pace the winners. Argentina secured a 34:19 halftime lead. They dominated throughout the second part of the game and raced to a well-deserved win. Selem Safar (190-SG-87) had 12 points for the winners. Jorge Schuler (199-F-87) responded with 14 points for Chile. Samuel Bravo (194-F-82) had 12 points in the loss. The teams will now meet again today in the Final.
Colombia rolled past Bolivia 88:42 in the final game of the preliminary round. Rodrigo Caicedo (180-PG-88) and Jorge Salazar delivered 13 points each to pace the winning part. Julio Mendoza (PG-78) answered with 13 points for Bolivia.

Colombia defeated easily a weak Ecuatorian team in its second game in the Odesur games, the national team use his size to take control of the boards making 41 points in low or high post plays, but also took advantge of the Ecuador turnovers scoring 26 points out them, however again the young Aguilas de Tunja point guard Leonardo Salazar was the scoring leader with 17 points, among the big guys Freddy Asprilla (208-F-88, college: Canisius) had 16 points , Beyckar Aguaslimpias finished with a double doubl of 12 pts and 12 rebounds
With a 38 points lead at the end of the third quarter Colombia had enough time to its youngs to show their skills, Yildon Mendoza and Adres Ibarguen played 4 minutes each .
Colombia will face the real challenge playing against the locals Chile, the victory could mean the silver medal.

Colombia 92 - L. Salazar 17 pts, F. Asprilla 16 pts.
Ecuador 52 - M. Quintero 20 pts, E. Tenorio 12 pts.

Colombia national team started against Argentina in the Odesur games falling 74 43, the national coach idea of start with 3 big men and just two guards did not work and the Argentinas offense took a 20 11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Colombia switched to a more traditional 3 perimeter and two post up players, but the offensive production keep falling in the second quarter in wich Colombia scored just 2 points in the first 6 minutes to finish with 9 in the period, however the young Leonardo Salazar had his chance to use his quickness to help the team
The second half was not too different Colombia has problems to drive the ball against the Argentinas half court defese and the turnovers start to kill the team soul, the colombian post up players spent too much time far from the basket and the systems did not work to put them in a better situation, Norbey Aragon (194-F/G-78, college: Georgia SW) was the best colombian in the game
Argentina achieved an easy victory against a colombian team that did not had training before.

Colombia 43 - N. Aragon 15 pts, J. Hernandez 7 pts +9 rebounds.
Argentina 74 - N. Romano 17 pts + 13 rebs, F. Campazzo 10 pts.
