Double Overtime win at All-Star Game
The NCAA players had to go into double overtime as they lost
113-110 against young BSN players in the 1st game of the All-Star
activities at the Fajardo Arena last night. The game ended with both
sides tied at 90 points. In the 1st overtime the BSN players started
this period with 2 3 pointers but the NCAA players came back with a
8-0 run of their own. In the final seconds of this overtime period
it was
Walter Hodge (183-G-86) with a 3 pointer to give NCAA players
the lead but
Jesus Verdejo (193-G-85, college:
Arizona) tied the game once again wit two free throws to send
the game into its 2nd overtime period. This period was dominated by
the BSN squad to seal the victory. For BSN players,
Alvin Cruz (186-G-82, agency:
Paris Global Sports, college:
Niagara) scored 30 points followed by Angel Alamao with 23
points. For the NCAA squad
Angel Garcia (196-C-88) scored 26 points to lead all NCAA
players.
In other All-Star activities, the Island squad beat the Metro squad
98-84. The 1st half belonged to the Island squad 49-39. In the 2nd
half the Metro team was able to trim the lead to just 1 point 67-66.
In the 4th quarter the Island squad took command of the game and
kept the metro squad to just 18 points. For the Island squad,
Ricardo Melendez (180-G-83) scored 24 points followed by
Peter John Ramos (222-C-85) with 22 points. For the Metro squad

Brown Mackie) scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Peter John Ramos was selected the MVP of the game.

Santurce wins title
In a historic game in
front of 18,000 fans, Cangrejeros de Santurce won their sixth title
in ten years by beating Capitanes de Arecibo 102-97 in overtime at
Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
Larry Ayuso (190-G-77, agency:
Edge Sports, college:
USC)
was selected as the finals MVP after he scored 34 points in the
final game and averaged 24.71 points per game during the series.
Robert "Tractor" Traylor was key with 24 points and 10 rebounds,
Ricardo Dalmau had 15.
In a losing effort Marcus Fizer had 37 points, Rafael Cruz 25 and
Angel Figueroa 21.
In the final minutes Richie and Ricardo Dalmau were key along with
Orlando Santiago who netted four straight free throws to seal the
game.
Since their return in 1998 they won titles in their first year and
1999, 2000, 2001 y 2003.
