26-year old swingman Jonathan King (198-F/G-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Aguilas and receives a Player of the Week award for round 15.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out Toros (#6, 5-10) 90-86. Aguilas is placed at 4th position in Panamanian league. Aguilas is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-8 record. In the team's last game King had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Aguilas and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Abilene Christian University graduate has very impressive stats this year. King is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 7.5rpg), assists (6th best: 4.9apg) and averages solid 2.6spg and 53.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was CJ Rodriguez (188-G) of Caballos. He is American guard in his first season at Caballos. In the last game Rodriguez recorded impressive 23 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. It was enough for Caballos to edge slightly higher-ranked Panteras (#3, 8-7) by 5 points 87-82. Caballos' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-8 record. Rodriguez is a newcomer at Caballos and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#9). His other stats are also decent: 4.2rpg and 4.8apg.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ricardo Melendez (179-G-83) of league's second-best Halcones. Melendez scored 23 points and passed ten assists (!!!). He was a key player of Halcones, leading his team to a 102-98 win against #1 ranked Correcaminos in a game of the week. Halcones needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 6 lost games. Melendez has a great season in Panama. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.0ppg (2nd best) and assists with 6.5apg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Joel Munoz (183-PG-80) of Toros - 25 points and 11 assists
5. Duane James (196-F-83) of Panteras - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Daniel King (203-PF-87) of Panteras - 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Josimar Ayarza (205-F-87) of Aguilas - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Ernesto Oglivie (203-F-89) of Halcones - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Ryan Abrahams (191-SG-81) of Halcones - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
10. William Orozco (201-F-85) of Aguilas - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Michael Hicks selected the top Panamanian playing abroad in last week's games - 1 day ago
We bring you last week's top performances from Panamanians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an experienced international forward Michael Hicks (196-76). He could not help Hebraica (1-3) in their last game. Despite Hicks' very good performance the eighth-placed Hebraica (1-3) lost 88-98 in a derby game to the higher-ranked (#6) Nacional in the Places 1-8 group.    [read more]
