26-year old swingman Jonathan King (198-F/G-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Aguilas and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15. He had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out Toros (#6, 5-10) 90-86. Aguilas is placed at 4th position in Panamanian league. Aguilas is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-8 record. In the team's last game King had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Aguilas and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Abilene Christian University graduate has very impressive stats this year. King is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 7.5rpg), assists (6th best: 4.9apg) and averages solid 2.6spg and 53.1% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was CJ Rodriguez (188-G) of Caballos. He is American guard in his first season at Caballos. In the last game Rodriguez recorded impressive 23 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. It was enough for Caballos to edge slightly higher-ranked Panteras (#3, 8-7) by 5 points 87-82. Caballos' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-8 record. Rodriguez is a newcomer at Caballos and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#9). His other stats are also decent: 4.2rpg and 4.8apg.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Ricardo Melendez (179-G-83) of league's second-best Halcones. Melendez scored 23 points and passed ten assists (!!!). He was a key player of Halcones, leading his team to a 102-98 win against #1 ranked Correcaminos in a game of the week. Halcones needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 6 lost games. Melendez has a great season in Panama. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.0ppg (2nd best) and assists with 6.5apg (3rd best).

Lloreda has relatively good stats this year: 14.3ppg, 13.5rpg, 2FGP: 63.2%(36-57) and FT: 63.6% in six games he played so far.
Ex-Magnates de Calidonia player is currently a member of the Panamanian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Jamaal Levy (206-83, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in Argentina). He was not able to help Weber Bahia (21-14) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Levy's good performance Weber Bahia (#3) was defeated 80-69 at home by the lower-ranked Olimpico de La Banda (#5) in the Sur group.
He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 12 rebounds. Levy also added and 5 steals.
This season Levy averages: 7.1ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.4apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 59.2%(74-125), 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 56.4%.
He is in the roster of the Panamanian senior national team.
#3. The Panamanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Michael Hicks (196-76, college: Texas A&M-CC, currently plays in Liga Americas) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jaime Lloreda and both played together in the last Liga Americas game.
Hicks. He was not able to secure a victory for Hebraica (1-2) in their last game. Despite Hicks' very good performance Hebraica was badly defeated 100-84 in Almagra by the lower-ranked (#4) San Lorenzo in the group F of Liga Americas.
He was the second best scorer with 20 points. Hicks also added 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 36 minutes.
Hicks has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 19.3ppg, 5.5rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 48.3%, 3FGP: 48.0%(12-25) and FT: 71.0% in six games.
Ex-Toros del Chiriqui David player is also a member of the Panamanian senior national team.
#4. Forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-89, currently plays in Uruguay) led Trouville to a surprising victory over the leader Goes (12-3) 74-68 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB in Monday night's game.
Oglivie was MVP of the game. He recorded 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Club Trouville Montevideo (2-12) is placed eighth in Promocional 1 group.
This season Oglivie has very high stats. He averages: 22.5ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.5bpg and 1.5spg.
Oglivie is also Panamanian national team player.
#5. Former international swingman Gary Forbes (201-85, college: Virginia, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked La Union (8-22) 103-87 in the Argentinian LigaA on Thursday night.
He scored 9 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
Aerochaco Boca Juniors Capital Feder (12-28) is placed ninth in Sur group.
They ended the series of four consecutive loses.
Forbes' overall stats this season are: 8.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 4.4apg and 1.4spg.
He is a naturalized American.
Forbes used to play for the Panamanian national team
six years ago.
Strangely he has never played in Panama.
#6. Guard Geno Luzcando (190-95, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Idaho St. (3-10) in their last game. Despite Luzcando's good performance the Idaho St. lost 76-91 on their home court in Pocatello to the Sacramento State University.
He recorded 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 38 minutes.
Luzcando's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
This year Luzcando has relatively solid stats: 10.4ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.0spg in 30 games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Panamanian National Team roster.

#1.Javier Carter (203-C-91, college: S.Alabama, currently plays in Mexico) led Soles to a victory against the closely-ranked Garzas (22-14) 100-92 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Monday.
He recorded 15 points and blocked 2 shots in a mere 19 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Soles de Mexicali (23-13) is placed second in the LNBP.
It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row.
This year Carter's overall stats are: 7.9ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.2apg and 1.2spg in 10 games he played so far.
He is a naturalized American.
Carter used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.
#2.Gabriel Giron (190-G-88, currently plays in Mexico) managed to help Fuerza Regia Monterrey to win against the closely-ranked Toros (22-14) 84-72 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Sunday.
Giron scored only 2 points.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (32-4) is placed first in the LNBP.
Giron's overall stats this season are: 9.1ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.2apg.
He has a dual citizenship: Panamanian and Mexican.
#3.Tymell Murphy (196-F-90, college: FIU, currently plays in Japan). Murphy could not help Kagoshima (5-37) to beat Nishinomiya Storks (29-13).
He recorded only 4 points in 7 minutes on the court.
Kagoshima (#6) was crushed 92-71 on the road by the second-ranked Nishinomiya Storks in the West group.
It was Kagoshima's sixth consecutive loss in a row.
Murphy has reliable stats this year: 11.6ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.6apg in 39 games.
He is a naturalized American.
Apparently Murphy has never played in Panama.
#4.Pablo Rivas (198-F-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Bethune-Cookman College (15-1) crushing them 95-60 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game.
He scored only 2 points.
The N.Carolina Central has a very good 10-2 conference record this season.
Rivas' team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Rivas' overall stats this season are: 6.9ppg and 4.3rpg.
