Josimar
Ayarza
Newly promoted Atletico Echague Parana (LigaA) added to their roster 29-year old Panamanian ex-international forward Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi). He played last summer at Aguilas in Panamanian LPB league. Ayarza managed to play in four leagues in four countries last year (!!!). In 15 LPB games he recorded very impressive stats: 21.8ppg, 5.4rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg. The last season he played at Lanus where in 6 LigaA games he averaged 8.7ppg and 2.8rpg. Ayarza also played that season for Atletico Welcome in Uruguayan LUB. In 14 games he had also remarkable stats: 18.1ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1bpg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Uruguay LUB Honorable Mention. The other team he played shortly was Jefes in Mexican LNBP. In 5 games he got 7.6ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.0apg.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Ayarza's team made it to the Dominican Rep. LNB Semifinals in 2014. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-COCABA Championships 1st Team in 2015.
Ayarza represented Panama at the Centrobasket in Panama City (Panama) this year. His team got to the Semifinals and his stats at that event were 6 games: 6.8ppg, 1.7rpg, 1.8apg, FGP: 47.6%, 3PT: 16.7%, FT: 75.0%.
Ayarza is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Brazil, Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Venezuela (Marinos), Mexico (Fuerza Regia and Caballeros de Culiacan) and Argentina (9 de Julio and Estudiantes Concordia).
Ayarza attended University of Southern Mississippi until 2011 and it will be his sixth season as a professional player.
On Ayarza: One of the most promising young players of Panama City;.

Top ranked Caballos (10-4) recorded its fourth loss in Aguadulce on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Correcaminos (8-5) 77-66. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Center Joel Tesis (206-82, college: John Brown) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Naturalized American point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Pro Sports) chipped...   [read more]

LPB Round 12: Aguilas are defeated by Panteras in a derby game - 5 days ago
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Panama City: Panteras (#3) and Aguilas (#6). Panteras (7-5) won against visiting Aguilas (3-9) 81-67. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Alejandro Grant (199-93) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Jared Ruiz (188-92) who added 20 points and 4 steals during the contest. Panteras' coach Adriano Macias used entire bench which allowed the starters a little re...   [read more]
