On the other side, Jamaica got 24 points and 6 rebounds from Nicole Louden (172-G-83, college: Auburn). Vanessa Gidden (193-C/F-85, college: Hofstra) had 17 pts and 9 boards, while Simone Edwards (194-C-73, college: Iowa) added 10 points and 8 rebs. Quarters: 10-21, 20-15, 21-19, 18-16. Today is the last day of the Preliminary Round in Neiva. Paraguay will meet Mexico. Jamaica will take on Canada and it will be the crucial game for both teams.

Los Angeles Sparks released 28-year old Paraguayan ex-international swingman Paola Ferrari (178-85, agency: Josep and Nicolas). She is a dual citizen owning also Italian passport. She won Spanish LFB championship title and made it to the cup final.

They swept the championship series against Rivas Ecopolis to retain the title they lost to Ros Casares last season. It was a dramatic clash with the title at stake. Rivas Ecopolis tried to leave a bitter home loss behind and started aggressively. The visitors posted a 19:10 lead after ten minutes of action. Rivas Ecopolis maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. Moreover the visitors piled up a 38:24 halftime advantage. Avenida stopped the rot in the third term. The hosts narrowed the deficit and trailed by just 10 points heading into the fourth stanza. The hosts used a 10:3 rally midway through the final frame to narrow the deficit at 2-point mark 57:59. Currie and Marta Xargay Casademont put Avenida within one with just over a minute remaining 62:63. Olexandra Kurasova drained a triple to give Rivas Ecopolis space for manoeuvre. However Salciute responded with a treble of her own to bring Avenida within one again 65:66. The teams exchanged misses before Le'Coe Willingham got fouled with just two seconds remaining. She calmly sank both free throws and brought Avenida to the historic victory. Le'Coe Willingham, Marta Xargay Casademont and Egle Sulciute finished with 12 points each for the winners. Currie added 11 points for Avenida. Olexandra Kurasova answered with 17 points for Rivas Ecopolis. Anna Vadja netted 12 points in the loss. In Dec.'12 Paola Ferrari joined Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca (Spain-LFB, starting five) and averaged 5.9 points per game.
