Sportivo Luqueno is still undefeated in the 2016 edition of Paraguay's Metro League and is taking advantage of the absence of Sol de America tu rule in Paraguayan basketball. The team coached by Cristian Viveros finished at first place in the first round with a win-loss record of 8-0, ahead of Felix Perez Cardozo (7-1), Libertad (6-2) and Arcabasket (5-3), the other teams that made it into the playoffs, while San Lorenzo (2-6), Campoalto (1-7), Olimpia (1-6) and Ciudad Nueva (1-6) were left ouf of the championship run.

Sportivo Luqueno's top players have been Gustavo Torres (175-G-80), Edison Ortiz (197-F/C-82), Ramon Sanchez (194-F-91) and Federico Mellone (193-F/G-85), while Felix Perez Cardozo's team is coached by Juan Pablo Feliu . Libertad, coached by Eduardo Pfleger , has Diego Bareiro (195-F-91), Bruno Zanotti (198-SF-82, college: Merrimack), Guillermo Osorio (192-F-85), Daniel Perez (190-G/F-84), Elias Sosa (194-F/C-80), Roberto Laratro (196-C-83, college: Gettysburg) and Edgar Riveros (94) as part of the roster. Arcabasket is coached by Rodrigo Insfran .

San Jose and Olimpia reach the Final as they finished on top of Final Four Stage. In the last game San Jose overcame Libertad 89-83. Both teams were tied at 61-61, while San Jose pulled the lead and won the game. Olimpia finished on top beating Sol de America 84-78. They trailed 5 points at the end of the third period, but managed to dominate the last quarter and won the game.   [read more]

Three teams share the top in Metro Final Four stage with 2-1 records, while Libertad is last with a 0-3 record. In the last games Sol de America overcame Olimpia 107-106 in the top game and handed them their first loss. Earlier San Jose improved to a 2-1 record beating Libertad 98-81.
