Christian
Dalmau
Vaqueros de Bayamon defeated Indios de Mayaguez 75-69 to tie the series 1-1.

Christian Dalmau (194-G-77, agency: Paris Global Sports, college: Daytona Beach CC) led the way with 23 points; Gary Wilkinson (204-F/C-82, college: Utah St.) had 14 and Carmelo Antrone Lee (201-F-77, agency: Paris Global Sports, college: Long Beach St.) 12 for Vaqueros.

Bayamon had a great start to the game, having a 17-6 advantage led by a balanced attack. Their half court offense and aggressive defense hurt Mayaguez and ended with a 36-21 halftime lead.

In the second half Mayaguez made an impressive run, taking advantage from the three-point misses by Bayamon and some turnovers. They had a 20-7 run in the last six minutes of the third quarter and cut the lead 50-48 after a three-pointer by Carlos Rivera (187-PG-83, agency: Paris Global Sports, college: Hofstra).

Mayaguez kept the pressure and even took the lead after another long distance connection by Rivera with 5:08 remaining, but baskets in penetration by their guards and trips to the free throw line gave Bayamon the win.

Carlos Rivera scored 15 points and Donta Smith (201-G-83, college: SE Illinois JC) 13 for Mayaguez.

Game three is on Saturday in Mayaguez. The series between Capitanes and Atleticos also continue the same day in Arecibo.
