BSN Finals, Game 5: Arecibo - Mayaguez 61-72 (1-4 win)

Indios de Mayaguez won the 2012 BSN title last night. They outplayed Capitanes de Arecibo in Game Five of the Finals winning the series with almost perfect 4-1. Arecibo is dethroned after two years.
The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-61. Indios dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Capitanes' 26 and they also made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent). Oritseweyinmi Efejuku (196-G-86, college: Providence) top-scored in victory with 13 points, while American center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) had 12 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import Alexander Franklin (196-88, college: Siena) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Indios' coach Eddie Casiano used entire bench in this game. Larry Ayuso (190-77, college: USC, agency: Global Sports Plaza) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: G.Washington) added 13 points in the effort for Capitanes.
Mayaguez was third ranked team of the regular season with 6-4 record. They eliminated Bayamon with 4-2 in the Semis. Alexander Franklin is named MVP of the BSN Finals.

Defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers waived 28-year old Puerto Rican international swingman John Holland (195-93kg-88, college: Boston). Holland ended the last season at the Celtics. But in only one NBA game he did not score anything. Atletico Bigua Montevideo (LUB) signed 32-year old Puerto Rican international guard Richard Chaney (196-84, college: Troy). He is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Chaney played last summer at Piratas de Quebradillas in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 32 games he had 7.0ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.6apg. The last season he played at Libertad Sunchales in Argentinian LigaA where in 17 games he recorded 9.9ppg and 5.6rpg. Byblos Sporting Club (Pepsi LBL) agreed terms with experienced 36-year old American guard Clay Tucker (196-88kg-80, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee). He played last summer at Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 32 games he had 14.0ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.7apg and 1.5spg (in top 3).
