Joel Katz and Eugenio Vives, owners of Gigantes de Carolina and Caciques de Humacao respectively, presented a plan to merge for the 2013 season that begins on March 31.

The plan is in the hands of team owners in the league and it is just for one season. In 2014 Gigantes and Caciques will play separately.

Gigantes have to play this season but didn't find a buyer and if they don't show up in 2013 they lose the franchise along with the players. Caciques are interested since they could get some key figures from Gigantes like Filiberto Rivera, Alejandro Carmona, Alvin Cruz and Luis Villafane.

Caciques played last season and had a 9-21 record.

As of now the owners won't approve this move and if that's the case the players from Carolina stay in their current teams.
