Caciques de Humacao and Gigantes de Carolina merged for the 2013 season and it was approved by the BSN Board of Directors last Thursday. Gigantes would have 90 days after the 2013 BSN season to decide if they come back, if not the merger stays in Humacao where they have a new coliseum.

The team will play half of their games in Carolina and the rest in Humacao. The roster now includes players like Filiberto Rivera (190-PG-82, college: UTEP), Alejandro Carmona, Alvin Cruz that belong to Gigantes.

Now the 2013 BSN season has the following teams: Atleticos de San German, Brujos de Guayama, Humacao/Carolina, Capitanes de Arecibo, Cangrejeros de Santurce, Indios de Mayaguez, Mets de Guaynabo, Leones de Ponce, Piratas de Quebradillas and Vaqueros de Bayamon.

Also the league approved three imports for all the teams. One of those imports must have a Latin-American passport.

The next meeting is scheduled for December 12 where a new salary cap for native players is going to be approved.
