Peter Ramos
Piratas de Quebradillas traded national team center Ramos Peter John (222-C-85) to Capitanes de Arecibo for Ricky Melendez, the second overall pick in the rookie draft and cash.

Ramos has been the franchise player of Quebradillas since their return in 2009. Last season he averaged 18.37 points and 9.3 rebounds in 30 games. He currently plays in China for Guangsha Lions.

"The trade was necessary for Peter and our team. We didn't have the chemistry that we wanted and I think we needed to make this trade. It has been the most difficult decision I have made in my time in basketball. I have been thinking about it for the last four months. I have been talking to Peter about this possibility and I informed him that it was official," said team owner Felo Rivera to El Nuevo Dia.

Rivera was the one that brought Peter to Puerto Rico from New York. He was the owner of Criollos when Ramos made his debut in 2001 and played there until 2008.

In that trade they also got Ricky Melendez who was developed in Caguas under Rivera and head coach Leonel Arill. Melendez currently plays in Panteras (LNBP) and averages 26.2 points.

Quebradillas is now focused in that second pick and are considering Renaldo Balkman, Mike Rosario, Jorge Brian Diaz or Angel Garcia. Brujos de Guayama got the first pick. The BSN Draft is scheduled for January 30.
