Mets de Guaynabo traded Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-G/F-86, college: Virginia Tech) to Capitanes de Arecibo for center Daniel Santiago (216-C-76, agency: Priority Sports, college: N.Mexico). The trade must be approved by the league.

Vassallo averaged 16.35 points in 17 games for Mets and reinjured his knee. He underwent surgery and had a good rehab. He already practiced with Mets and looks in better shape than last season.

Santiago played in Arecibo since 2010 and was the starting center. He is currently playing for Boca Juniors in Argentina. Arecibo had the option to trade him since they acquired Peter John Ramos and import Windi Graterol for this season.

This trade gives Arecibo a player who can be both a shooting guard and a forward. He has proven to be a dominant scorer, especially from the perimeter and can help Capitanes fulfill their expectations this season.

Guaynabo acquires a veteran center that has played at the highest level on the international level. He joins Christian Dalmau and Larry Ayuso who where his teammates in the national team. Santiago also won a title with Christian Dalmau in 2009 with Bayamon.
