Tony Ruiz
Marinos de Anzoategui announced its decision to release Venezuelan head coach Ronald Guillen of his duties, after a 4-6 start in the 2017 edition of Venezuela's Liga Profesional de Baloncesto (LPB), while they also confirmed Puerto Rican Tony Ruiz as his replacement.

Ruiz is supposed to make his official debut in a two-game clash as visitors against the defending LPB champions, Cocodrilos de Caracas, at Naciones Unidas Park. The team is at fourth place of the Eastern Conference.

Ruiz is a very experienced coach with previous jobs including the leagues of Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic, as well as previous stints in Venezuela's LPB as head coach of Guaros de Lara (2008-2009, 2012), Guaiqueries de Margarita (2010-2011, 2015), Gaiteros del Zulia (2013) and Panteras de Miranda (2014). He also coached in Venezuela's LNB, working for franchises such as Tiburones de Vargas (2011) and Caquetios de Falcon (2013).
