There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in BSN.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leones (1-1) in Juana Diaz on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Santeros (2-0) 75-74. Leones trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 25-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 74-75 at the end of the game. Santeros outrebounded Leones 48-31 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. International Chris Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Santeros' coach Eddie Casiano used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Hakim Warrick (206-82, college: Syracuse) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Santeros is looking forward to face Atleticos (#6) in San German in the next round where they are favorite. Leones will play on the road against Caciques in Humacao and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Arecibo. Capitanes (2-0) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Brujos (0-2) 73-70 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Cady Lalanne contributed with 22 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds for Brujos. Brujos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Capitanes will play against Piratas (#4) in Quebradillas in the next round. Brujos will play at home against Indios (#11) to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in between Fajardo and Vaqueros. Fajardo (2-0) got a very close home victory over Vaqueros (0-2). Fajardo managed to escape with a 1-point win 87-86 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Damion James scored 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Alex Franklin responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fajardo will again meet Vaqueros (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vaqueros will have a break next round.

Quebradillas - Humacao 106-97

The game with biggest result difference took place in Quebradillas. Local Piratas (2-0) beat Caciques (0-2) 106-97. It looked good early as Caciques took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Piratas had a 29-16 second period charge getting the lead and Caciques were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 97-106. Piratas made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. The former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) notched 24 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Luis Hernandez (198-88) supported him with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 28 points and 6 assists by American forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: N.Carolina St.) did not help to save the game for Caciques. American-Lebanese power forward Jarrid Famous (209-88, college: S.Florida) added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Five Piratas and four Caciques players scored in double figures. Caciques' coach tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Piratas' next round opponent will be Capitanes in Arecibo and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caciques will play at home against Leones (#5) and hope to win that game.

Fajardo - Bayamon 87-86

A very close game took place in between Fajardo and Vaqueros. Fajardo (2-0) got a very close home victory over Vaqueros (0-2). Fajardo managed to escape with a 1-point win 87-86 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Vaqueros won second period 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fajardo made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. International swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds and Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fajardo will again meet Vaqueros (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vaqueros will have a break next round.

Mayaguez - San German 83-92

But Indios were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from San German 92-83. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-22 Indios' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 92-83 at the end of the game. Strangely Indios outrebounded Atleticos 48-30 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. The former international guard Isaac Sosa-Carrion (190-90, college: Canisius) notched 21 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) supported him with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds by American forward David Laury (206-90, college: Iona) did not help to save the game for Indios. The former international guard Jezreel De-Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) added 24 points for the hosts. Four Atleticos and five Indios players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atleticos' next round opponent will be Santeros in Coamo and it may be quite challenging game. Important game to mention about took place in Arecibo. Capitanes (2-0) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Brujos (0-2) 73-70 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Brujos were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 46-40 second half run of Capitanes. Brujos were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Cady Lalanne (208-92, college: Massachusetts) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds for the winners.
