This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in BSN and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Capitanes (2-1) in Arecibo on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Piratas (3-0) 111-94. The game was mostly controlled by Piratas. Capitanes managed to win fourth quarter 36-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Piratas shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Capitanes' players. It was a good game for American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) contributed with 26 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. American center Cady Lalanne (208-92, college: Massachusetts) answered with 25 points and 7 rebounds for Capitanes. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very important is a road loss of Fajardo (2-1) against Vaqueros (1-2) on Tuesday night. Visiting Fajardo was defeated by Vaqueros in a tough game in Bayamon 70-77. It was a great evening for forward Johwen Villegas (193-85, college: FIU) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. Jeleel Akindele helped adding 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American center Shawn James (208-83, college: Northeastern) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vaqueros will play against Atleticos (#5) in San German in the next round. Fajardo will play on the road against Leones in Juana Diaz and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Santeros (3-0) added another victory to their record on Monday. This time they beat Atleticos (1-2) in San German 77-70. It was a quality performance for Rigoberto Mendoza who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Gary Browne came up with 8 points and 10 assists for Atleticos in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Santeros will meet at home Brujos (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Atleticos will play against Vaqueros (#7) in Bayamon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 3 Ponce were beaten by Humacao on the road 74-70. Winless Guayama lost to Mayaguez on its own court 90-94.

Arecibo - Quebradillas 94-111

Bayamon - Fajardo 77-70

Very important is a road loss of Fajardo (2-1) against Vaqueros (1-2) on Tuesday night. Visiting Fajardo was defeated by Vaqueros in a tough game in Bayamon 70-77. The game without a history. Vaqueros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for forward Johwen Villegas (193-85, college: FIU) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Shawn James (208-83, college: Northeastern) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and international point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) scored 19 points and 6 assists. Fajardo will play on the road against Leones in Juana Diaz and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There was a surprise result when Caciques (1-2) beat Leones (1-2) in Humacao 74-70 on Tuesday. Caciques forced 20 Leones turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for the former international point guard Ansel Guzman (174-84) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 6 assists. Naturalized American guard Wil Martinez (188-92, college: Fairmont St., agency: Paris Global Sports) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. Four Caciques players scored in double figures. Caciques' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Hakim Warrick (206-82, college: Syracuse) came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Carlos Emory (196-91) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Leones in the defeat. Caciques will meet at home Indios (#9) in the next round. Leones will play against Fajardo (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Santeros (3-0) added another victory to their record on Monday. This time they beat Atleticos (1-2) in San German 77-70. Atleticos trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-77 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Atleticos 42-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a quality performance for Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. International Chris Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. The former international guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) came up with 8 points and 10 assists and American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Atleticos in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Santeros will meet at home Brujos (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brujos were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Mayaguez 94-90 on Monday night. Brujos trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 27-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 90-94 at the end of the game. Indios dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Brujos' 40 and made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for international Devon Collier (203-91, college: Oregon St.) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Jezreel De-Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 21 points for the winning side. Five Indios players scored in double figures. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Elias Ayuso (190-77, college: USC, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 13 points respectively for Brujos in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Indios will meet Caciques (#6) in the next round. Brujos will play against Santeros (#1) in Coamo and hope to get finally their first victory.
