Gerald Fitch
34-year old guard Gerald Fitch (191-G-82) put on an extraordinary performance in the last week for league's best team Quebradillas and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for week 3.
He had the game-high 17 points adding nine rebounds and nine assists for Quebradillas in his team's victory, helping them to crush Arecibo (#3, 2-1) with 17-point margin 111-94. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Quebradillas to take over top position in the Puerto Rican league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Quebradillas already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. Fitch just recently signed at Quebradillas, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Kentucky graduate has very impressive stats this year. Fitch is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 7.7apg) and averages solid 68.8% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last week was Cady Lalanne (208-C-92) of Arecibo. He is American center in his first season at Arecibo. In the last game Lalanne recorded impressive 25 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Arecibo lost that game 94-111 to Quebradillas (3-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next week. Lalanne is one of the most experienced players at Arecibo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.0ppg (#5). He also registered 9.7 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) of Guayama (#10). Phelps got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last week. He went also for twelve rebounds . Despite Phelps' great performance Guayama lost 90-94 to Mayaguez (#9, 1-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Guayama can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-3 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Phelps he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Phelps has individually a great season in Puerto Rico. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.0ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 11.0rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Michael Rosario (190-SG-90) of Quebradillas - 26 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Devon Collier (203-PF-91) of Mayaguez - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Rigoberto Mendoza (190-G-92) of Aguada - 24 points and 10 rebounds
7. Chris Gaston (201-PF-89) of Aguada - 14 points and 9 rebounds
8. Jorge Bryan Diaz (210-C-89) of Quebradillas - 23 points and 7 rebounds
9. David Laury (206-F-90) of Mayaguez - 18 points and 7 rebounds
10. Shawn James (208-C-83) of Fajardo - 13 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
