Here is the weekly review of the top performing Puerto Rican players, who play currently abroad.

Shabazz Napier
Shabazz Napier
#1. This week's number one is an international point guard Shabazz Napier (185-91, college: Connecticut, currently plays in NBA). He led Portland Trail Blazers to a 1-point victory over the San Antonio Spurs (61-21) 99-98 in the NBA in Monday night's game. Napier was MVP of the game. He scored 32 points (!!!), had 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 37 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Napier's third season in pro basketball. The Portland Trail Blazers have 41-40 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the NBA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Napier averages: 4.4ppg, 1.2rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 42.9%, 3FGP: 36.2% and FT: 77.6% in 50 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and American. Napier is currently a member of the Puerto Rican senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Puerto Rico.

Ramon Clemente
Ramon Clemente
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Argentina). Clemente was the major contributor in Ferrocarril's victory against the fourth-ranked Instituto (27-21) 97-91 in the Argentinian LigaA last Sunday. He recorded 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Ferrocarril Oeste Capital Federal (31-16) is placed second in Sur group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Clemente has relatively good stats this season: 13.2ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 62.4%(174-279), 3FGP: 38.9% and FT: 77.4%. He is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Clemente is in the roster of the Puerto Rican senior national team. He used to play for Indios de Mayaguez in Puerto Rican league.

Rasham Suarez
Rasham Suarez
#3. The Puerto Rican player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international guard Rasham Suarez (190-92, college: S.Mississippi, currently plays in Estonia). Suarez led Rapla to a victory over the sixth-ranked Valga (12-20) crushing them 99-70 in the Estonian Alexela KML on Thursday night. He was the best player in that game. Suarez scored 23 points and added 5 passes in 21 minutes; not bad, considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. AVIS Rapla (20-12) is placed second in the Alexela KML. This year Suarez has relatively solid stats: 11.8ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.8apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 44.2%, 3FGP: 31.0% and FT: 79.6% in 25 games. Former Guaynabo starter played for the Puerto Rican U18 national team seven years ago.

Jose Juan Barea
Jose Juan Barea
#4. An experienced point guard Jose Juan Barea (183-84, college: Northeastern, currently plays in NBA) could not help the Dallas Mavericks (33-49) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his good performance the Dallas Mavericks (33-49) were badly defeated 109-91 on the road by the Denver Nuggets. Barea was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 4 rebounds and 9 assists. The Regular Season already ended in the NBA. Barea has reliable stats this season: 10.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 5.5apg. He is also Puerto Rican national team player.

Maurice Harkless
Maurice Harkless
#5. International swingman Maurice Harkless (203-93, college: St.John's, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Shabazz Napier. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention. Harkless contributed to an easy victory against the Utah Jazz (51-31) 101-86. He recorded 12 points and had 3 steals. The Portland Trail Blazers have 41-40 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Harkless' stats this season are: 10.1ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.2apg and 1.1spg. He has both American and Puerto Rican nationalities. Harkless plays currently for the Puerto Rican national team. Apparently he has never played in Puerto Rico.

Kevin Young
Kevin Young
#6. Forward Kevin Young (203-90, college: Kansas, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to help CA Platense in their game against CA Temperley (19-17) in the Argentinian TNA (second division), despite his very good performance last Friday. Young was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 9 rebounds in 35 minutes. But the fifth-placed CA Platense (17-19) lost 78-82 in Temperley to the higher-ranked (#3) CA Temperley in the Center South group. Young's stats this year are: 13.0ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg in 13 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Puerto Rican senior team two years ago.

Emanuel Pellot
Emanuel Pellot

Pellot scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Club Atletico Villa San Martin (13-23) is placed fifth in North group. Pellot's overall stats this season are: 3.0ppg and 3.2rpg. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U16 national team eight years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Puerto Rican passport but never been selected to any of Puerto Rican national teams:

#1. Experienced Rafael Perez (193-G/F-82, agency: Paris Global Sports, currently plays in Venezuela) was the major contributor in Marinos' victory against the fifth-ranked Toros (5-13) 113-108 in the Venezuelan LPB last Wednesday. Perez scored 22 points in 29 minutes. Marinos de Anzoategui (6-10) is placed fourth in Eastern Conference. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. Perez's stats this year are: 10.4ppg, 2.7rpg and 1.3apg in 16 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and Venezuelan.

#2. Emanuel Ubilla (188-PG-86, agency: Court Side, college: Fair Dickinson, currently plays in Hungary) led ZTE KK to a 1-point victory over the leader Alba (22-7) 90-89 in the Hungarian A Division on Sunday night. Ubilla was the top player that evening. He recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and making 12 passes. Ubilla also added 5 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 1-5. Zalakeramia-ZTE KK (19-10) is placed third. Ubilla has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.4ppg, 5.4rpg, 8.3apg and 1.3spg. Ubilla is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. He used to play for Atleticos de San German in Puerto Rican league.

Aska recorded 10 points in only 11 minutes. PAOK Thessaloniki (14-12) is placed fifth in the A1. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Aska's overall stats are: 9.8ppg and 4.0rpg in four games. He has both U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rican nationalities.

#4. Nick Leon (181-PG-88, college: St.Peter's, currently plays in Mexico) led Halcones de Ciudad Obregon to a victory against the eighth-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (4-8) 74-70 in the Mexican CIBACOPA on Wednesday night. Leon recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in only a mere 1 minutes. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (8-4) is placed third in the CIBACOPA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.    #5. Walter Hodge (183-PG-86, college: Florida, currently plays in France). He could not help one of league's weakest teams ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (13-14) to beat Le Portel (14-13).
