Akindele
Experienced Nigerian Jeleel Akindele (216-C-83, agency: BeoBasket) had a very impressive game in the last week for Bayamon and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for week 5.
The 33-year old center had a double-double of 27 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team beat Guayama (#10, 1-5) 77-67. Bayamon is placed at 7th position in Puerto Rican BSN. Bayamon is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-3 record. In the team's last game Akindele had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Bayamon, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Chicago State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Akindele is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 11.4rpg) and averages solid 1.4bpg and 78.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last week's games was 27-year old American power forward Chris Gaston (201-PF-89) of league's best team Aguada. Gaston impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. It was enough for Aguada to edge the lower-ranked Fajardo (#5, 3-2) by 4 points 80-76. This victory allowed Aguada to move up to 1st position in the standings. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 5 matches. Gaston is one of the most experienced players at Aguada and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last week was American Damien Wilkins (198-G-80) of Guayama (#10). Wilkins showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the last week. Despite Wilkins' great performance Guayama lost 67-77 to the higher-ranked Bayamon (#7, 2-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Guayama can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Wilkins he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Wilkins has individually a great season in Puerto Rico. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.0ppg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Chane Behanan (198-F-92) of Arecibo - 19 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Jarrid Famous (209-C/F-88) of Humacao - 17 points and 16 rebounds
6. David Laury (206-F-90) of Mayaguez - 25 points and 11 rebounds
7. Rigoberto Mendoza (190-G-92) of Aguada - 26 points and 7 rebounds
8. Damion James (201-F-87) of Fajardo - 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Michael Rosario (190-SG-90) of Quebradillas - 30 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Courtney Fells (196-F/G-86) of San German - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
