Horsfords Rootsie, a former A-Division team challenging the 2010 Finals Runners up, Cotton Ground Rebels. As the whistle signaled the end of the 1st half Rootsie was in the lead holding on by one point 32 to 31 and at the end of the third quarter they held a 9 point lead, putting in question Rebels outlook for the season. The game however ended 81 to 69 in favour of Cotton Ground Rebels who exhibited a spectacular momentum in the last quarter finishing strong, showing themselves worthy of being called Nevis elite team.

When asked how his team took the defeat, Coach Dwayne Sturge said he was disappointed with the loss as he felt they played well enough to win the game, however the missed free throws and missed rebounds lead to challenges they did not overcome. All in all as far as the attitude of the team, they have a renewed approach and outlook to the season, they are more positive about maintaining their position and becoming a contending team in the Premier Division.

Three other games were rained out this weekend highlighting once again the too often experienced hindrance to a successful basketball league. Is this an indication that SKABA should change their regular season to avoid the rainy time of the year or is it about time that facilities are put in place to counter the weather?
