BASSETERRE ST. KITTS (March 20, 2012) -- Fig Tree and Playz basketball teams maintained their winning streak into the third week of the Development Bank/Sandy Point Basketball League.

However, the highlight was when Old School Fruta Falcons crushed Any Thin Cun Happn 101-54 on Sunday night March 18 at the Sandy Point Hard Courts.

When play resumed on Saturday March 17, The Alley Showtime scored a narrow 67-63 win over Alley Construction Half Way Tree in the first game. Showtimes Clayton Powell (180-G) returned 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists, with Otis Daniel (17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists), and Peddy Warde (8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals) being the other top scorers on the winning side.

For the losing side, Alley Construction Half Way Tree, Kestbo Hanley managed 18 points, 18 rebounds and 3 steals. Other high scorers on his side were Benjamin Thomas (16 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals), and Jason Clarke (12 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists). MVP for the game was Clayton Powell of the Alley Showtime.

In the second and feature game on Saturday night, Fig Tree beat Running Suns 86-66. High scorers for the winning team were Nashorn Maynard (196-F-86, college: Alaska-Fairb.) (28 points, 28 rebounds, and 7 blocks), Ray Liddie (16 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals), and George Gaton (22 points, 9 assists, and 4 steals).

Putting in great effort on the Running Suns side were K. Hicks (16 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks), L. Fyfield (14 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists), and G. Browne (12, points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists). Fig Trees Nashorn Maynard was the games MVP.

Ansel Revan of Old School Fruta Falcons electrified the crowds with a great dunk on Sunday night in the first game where his team beat Any Thin Cun Happn 101-54. Revans teammate Taslyn Belboda was the games MVP.

High scores returned in the game were by Taslyn Belboda (24 points, 4 steals, and 7 assists), Sheno Liddie (22 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals), and Ansel Revans (18 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 steals) for the winning team, and Kaiyton Blake (19 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals), Oakland Connor (16 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals), and Dalton Jeffers (11 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 steals) for Any Thin Cun Happn.

In the second and feature game on Sunday night, Playz marinated their unbeaten run when they shut out Prime Builders Construction Wha-Do-U 98-77. With 27 points, 22 rebounds, and 3 assists, Kemo Duncan of Playz was the games MVP.

Other top scorers in the game were Calbert Gift (22 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals), and Mel Rawlins (17 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 assists) for the winning team. For Prime Builders Construction Wha-Do-U, top scorers were T. Caines (31 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 steals), G. Lewis (24 points, 3 steals, and 2 assists), and N. Prentice (8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals).

At the end of the third week in the Development Bank/Sandy Point Basketball League, Fig Tree and Playz have three wins each, but Fig Tree is in the first position due to its superior points score of 259 at an average of 86.33. Playz is in the second position with 251 points at an average of 83.66.

Junior Fruta Falcons who have so far played and won one game are in the third position based on the average 83 points scored in their winning match. The other teams, in order, are The Alley Showtime (198 points, 66 average) from two wins and one loss, Old School Fruta Falcons (165 points, 82.5 average) from one win and one loss, and Alley Construction Half Way Tree (140 points, 70 average) also from one win and one loss.

Teams that have lost all their games are Running Suns with 120 points and 60 average (two games), Prime Builders Construction Wha-Do-U with 207 points and 69 average (three games), and Anything Cun Happn with 201 points and 67 average (three games). One game between Running Suns and Alley Construction Half Way Tree was rained off on Sunday March 11.
