Dennery Dolphins escaped capture with a thrilling 49-47 win over Gardens AFC in a Basketball Premiere League game Tuesday evening at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
Dolphins who have a 2-2 won loss record, came through with a 49-47 win over Gardens AFC who have a similar record.
Desmond Vidal played a strong game for Dolphins scoring a game high 21 points. He also crashed the boards with 12 rebounds and came through with 12 steals

Dennery Dolphins escaped capture with a thrilling 49-47 win over Gardens AFC in a Basketball Premiere League game Tuesday evening at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
Dolphins who have a 2-2 won loss record, came through with a 49-47 win over Gardens AFC who have a similar record.
Desmond Vidal played a strong game for Dolphins scoring a game high 21 points. He also crashed the boards with 12 rebounds and came through with 12 steals.
Germaine Thomas led Gardens with 16 points and seven rebounds. Teammate Kurlan White chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.
It was a fast paced game with both teams employing a run and shoot offence. At the half Gardens led 21-19 but were never able to pull away from Dennery who kept pace most of the way.
In the fourth quarter, Gardens got some breathing room opening a five point lead. However, Dolphins fought back and scored the winning basket late in the game for a 49-47 win.
In the second game of a double header that evening, Soufriere Sulphur Stars had no trouble defeating Northern United 67-35.
Linzel Alcee led all scorers with 23 points to go along with 13 rebounds, four steals and four assists.
Northern United were kept in check for most of the game. Their only offensive bright spot was Yanei Montoute. He scored 10 points and hauled in 11 rebounds.
It was the first win of the tournament for the lads from Sulphur City who along with Northern United have a 1-3 won loss record.
Commenting on the tournament, President of the St Lucia Basketball Federation, Anthony Lamontagne said: It has been moving along very smoothly. We had very few hitches and there are teams who expressed some dissatisfaction with the officiating.
Lamontagne is pleased with the level of participation which has teams competing in two divisions. He expects the competition to be at a very high level in the second round of play.
Players have something else to shoot for during this tournament. A total of 39 players were selected to undergo training for the Windward Islands Senior Championship, slated for the Easter weekend in Grenada.

Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School and Super J Limited officials with the championship and individual trophies following Tuesdays prize giving at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School were crowned Champions of the Super J Ltd Schools Under-16 Basketball Tournament on Tuesday at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, after defeating St Marys College 42 31 in a hard fought and exciting encounter.
It was the second Under-16 Final the Samarians have lost this season. Vieux Fort led in every quarter and at half time the score was 22 8. However, at the resumption, College came out blazing and went on a 9 0 run which tilted the balance in their favour. This action was short lived and though they outscored their opponents 126, the damage was already done and the quarter ended 28 20.
The Final quarter was more keenly contested as St Marys College went all out on the offensive, only to be thwarted by the solid defence of Vieux Fort, marshalled by their 6 3 Centre Philbert Williams.
With seconds remaining, diminutive Jamal Charles, of Vieux Fort Comprehensive ended the game in grand style when he drilled a three pointer from half court right on the buzzer. It was a sweet and rewarding victory for the southern players who in 2008, lost the Finals to Leon Hess Comprehensive.
The main contributors for Vieux Fort were Olvin Presco 14 points, eight rebounds and seven steals; Jamal Charles eight points, eight steals; and Rahim Auguste and Ekon Descartes seven points each; while Philbert Williams chipped in with six points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
For St Marys College, Kyaan Elivin had 14 points and seven steals.
At the conclusion of the game, the following awards were presented: Most Points, Philbert Williams, Vieux Fort Cmprehensive; Most Steals, Omodele Phillip, St Marys College; Most Rebounds, Kraig Brooks, Castries Comprehensive; Most Blocks, Philbert Williams, Vieux Fort Comprehensive; Overall MVP of the Tournament, Philbert Williams; MVP of the Final, Jamal Charles, Vieux Fort Comprehensive. Zonal Winners Group A, Castries Comprehensive Secondary School; Zonal Winners Group B, St Marys College; Zonal Winners Group C, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School.

The Court Jets gained triumph at the Lime Hoops Classic basketball championship. They held off the Dennery Dolphins in the best-of-three series posting two victories in a row. Both encounters turned into a real ball dramas with the outcome decided in the final seconds.

The Court Jets gained triumph at the Lime Hoops Classic basketball championship. They held off the Dennery Dolphins in the best-of-three series posting two victories in a row. Both encounters turned into a real ball dramas with the outcome decided in the final seconds. The Jets earned a tough 69:59 victory in the Finals opener. The teams clashed again in Game 2 and the Dolphins started the game aggressively. They opened the game with 6 straight points and maintained the lead throughout the first frame. The Dolphins managed 15:13 advantage after ten minutes. The Jets however bounced back and surged ahead after free throws courtesy of Desmond Vidal. The Court Jets gradually took over and entered the final term ahead by 8 points 53:45. But the Dolphins climbed back from the deficit. Desmond Vidal orchestrated comeback effort that saw the Dolphins knot things up at 59 with 22 seconds left. But the Jets were lucky to sneak to the decisive victory. Ron Du Murville secured a bunch of vital freebies late in the encounter as the Jets sealed the victory. Ron Du Murville combined for 64 points and 30 boards in the Finals and was trumped the MVP of the series. Shane Blanchard and Rawlstan Mitchel had 12 points for the winners in Game 2. Gregory Austin finished with 14 points and 16 boards for the Dolphins in the defeat.
