The curtains were drawn on the Biabou Invitational Basketball Tournament, Saturday 5th February, with the staging of the finals between KFC Calliaqua and Khashe Angels. Calliaqua, buoyed by their followers who had journeyed in relatively large numbers to the Biabou hard court, emerged the winners with a 92-46 flogging of their opponents. Calliaquas scoring was led by Lezlo McKenzie (G-79) with 40 points. He was also the Player of the Final and the overall top goal scorer in the Tournament. Calliaqua earned themselves $1000 and Khashe Angels had to settle for $500. Calliaqua was the top team after the first round of competition. But it was Korean Divine Designs Biabou All Stars which collected the most accolades. Other than being adjudged the Most Disciplined Team in the Tournament, the Biabou All Stars also provided the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament in Kareem Grant. Grant recorded the highest number of three point shots for the Tournament. He was obviously Biabou All Stars Most Valuable Player. Keon Charles, also of Biabou All Stars, recorded the most blocks; Biabou Outlaws Nkosi Woodley the most rebounds and most steals on his way to being his teams Most Valuable Player. The youngest player in the tournament was ten-year-old Lucian John of Biabou All Stars. Prizes and trophies won in the Tournament were donated by several corporations, businesses and individuals, with the National Lotteries Authority being the major contributor.
