Ecuador - Argentina 48-64
Argentina posted the opening victory in Group B. They rolled past Ecuador. Fausto Ruesga (200-F-00) recorded 11 points to pace the winners. Argentina accounted for a 32:22 halftime advantage. They followed with a 15:10 run in the third term and never looked back en route to the win. Juan Hierrezuelo (203-F/C-00) and Christian Bihurriet (209-C-00) tossed in 9 points each for the winners. Luis Riascos (193-F/G-00) responded with 21 points and 11 rebounds for Ecuador.

Paraguay - Bolivia 71-35
Paraguay edged Bolivia to open win count at the South American Championship. Jose Barreto (185-F-01) posted 11 points and 7 boards to lead the winners. Paraguay recorded a 42:20 halftime lead. They held Bolivia to just 15 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Roberto Mercado (182-PG-01) netted 10 points in the win. Agustin Carreon (G-00) responded with 10 points for Bolivia.

Chile celebrate Gold in Lima - 9 months ago
FINAL Chile - Argentina 70-60 Chile claimed the South American U17 title. They knocked down heavy favorites Argentina in the championship game in Lima. Kevin Rubio (189-G-00) provided 22 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. Argentina jumped to a 21:13 lead after ten minutes. SEMIFINALS Argentina - Colombia 68-47 Argentina beat Colombia to seal their title game appearance. Leandro Bolmaro (198-F-00) led well-balanced effort with 18 points.
