Colmenares
Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Venezuelan players Nestor Colmenares (203-F-87) and Luis Bethelmy (200-F/C-86), who just finished playing the LPB 2012 season for Cocodrilos de Caracas, could miss the chance to play for Venezuela's Senior NT, as they haven't attended training due to injury and could be sidelined for a while.

Colmenares has a lingering dental issue that dates back to the time where he played for Huracanes de Tampico in Mexico's LNBP. According to the FVB's doctor, Juan Letizia, he might need a surgery that would require him to be sidelined between 60 and 80 days, according to a press note published by Lider en Deportes's basketball writer, Reiner Izturriaga.

Meanwhile, Luis Bethelmy had to undergo an MRI to determine the source of a recurrent pain in his lower back area that got worse during the Semifinals series against Marinos de Anzoategui.

Rafael Perez (193-G/F-82), of Trotamundos de Carabobo, is aching in his right quad, but could play in the last of the 3 games scheduled in the Super 4 Tournament 'Israel Sarmiento' that is being played at the Forum of Valencia.

Other players that aren't taking part in the first of three friendly tournaments are Greivis Vasquez (198-PG-87), who went back to the United States to attend a camp held by the New Orleans Hornets, Gregory Echenique (205-C-90), who has academic duties with Creighton in Nebraska and Anthony Perez (203-F-93), who is in Venezuela but had to concentrate on academic tests that he had to summit through online resources. John Cox (195-G-81) and Michael Carrera (198-F-93) are supposed to report to practice next week.

Also absent are Oscar Torres (195-F/G-76), Jose Vargas (196-G/F-82) and Axiers Sucre (198-F-78) of Marinos de Anzoategui and David Cubillan (183-PG-87) and Hector Romero (202-F/C-80) of Trotamundos de Carabobo, who were not forced to attend the tournament since they're still playing the LPB 2012 Finals. Venezuela's coaching staff, however, called up Dwight Lewis (196-G-87) and Rafael Perez of Trotamundos de Carabobo and Gregory Vargas (182-PG-86) and Miguel Marriaga (208-C-84) of Marinos de Anzoategui, to check them out.

Brad Greenberg , assistant coach of Eric Musselman , is in charge of the team, getting help from Nelson Solorzano , Henry Paruta , Daniel Seoane and Scott Abudato.

The complete list of Venezuela's 29 players called up for the South American Championship in Argentina (June 18th-June 22nd) and the FIBA World Olympic Qualy (July 2nd-July 8th), is as follows:
