Guaiqueries de Margarita s Head Coach Francisco 'Paco' Diez has several hours of basketball coaching experience; last night Wednesday February 29 of 2012 he closed the month defeating Cocodrilos Del Caracas 74-73 by coaching his game number 900. Coach Paco Diez has been coaching basketball for more than 25 years. They could be over 900 but Coach Diez got off the basketball bench between the years of 1982 until 1992 to go to USA for his PhD as well as to take over of some other important positions and responsibilities among the Venezuela's Sport world as Technical Director of the IND (National Sport Institute) also the Chairman of the IND in 1992.

The leader of Centauros de Apure was Clarence Matthews (201-F-83, college: Tennessee St.) with 20 points and 11 rebounds followed by both Nestor Colmenares (203-F-87, college: Campbellsville) and Tulio Cobos (196-F-86, college: Northeastern St.) with 16 points each. Despite of the defeated Mavort has its best player on Elys Guzman (206-F/C-82, college: Bemidji St.) with 28 points helped by Raul Cardenas (190-G-82, college: Faulkner) with 9 points and 10 assist.

6'10'' power forward/center Travis Derochowski will arrive in Venezuela next week from McMinnville, Oregon to join Athletics UCV towards 2012 Venezuela National Basketball League. Athletics UCV lead by its head coach Freddy Rengifo Rizzo, has been training since the last week of June this year in order to get ready for the upcoming 2012 Venezuela National Leagues Tip Off. "Our main focus in this years practices is to improve last years experience...Travis Derochowski will be a great help for us...I am sure he will bring a lot of respect in the post position...we are really excited with this agreement" - Head Coach Freddy Rengifo Rizzo Derochowski earned First Team All-Cal Pac honors in 2010-2011. He also led the conference in rebounds and shots blocked. Later at Simpson University Travis Derochowski averaged a double-double in points and rebounds in two California Pacific Conference games and the big guy from McMinnville was selected as the California Pacific Conference Men's Basketball player of the week for the date of January 23rd through January 29th, 2012. His size and experience will be welcome to Athletics UCV in Venezuelas Basketball National League.
