They overcame Central Enterriano of Argentina for the spot at the pedestal. Yaneth Arias (188-F-82, agency: Next Level) orchestrated the victory with 26 points, 13 boards and 5 assists to her tally. Central Enterriano lost the third straight game at the tournament after winning two at the start. Tathiana Mosquera provided 14 points and 8 rebounds for Medellin. Daniela Palacio finished with 12 points for the winning team. Liliana Tamburlini knocked down 22 points for Central Enterriano. Noelia Mendoza canned 15 points in the loss. Medellin outrebounded their opponents 39:30 and shot solid 46% from the field in the win.
5-6 spot
Santiago - Regatas 80-92 Regatas Lima earned the fifth overall spot at the South American Club Championship in Ecuador. They held off Santiago in Quito yesterday to clinch the position. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85) proved her status of the scoring machine at the tournament unleashing 29 points adding 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the Lima outfit. Wynter Whitley was helpful with 26 points and 22 rebounds for the winners. Daniela Scamarone added 14 points for the Peruvian team. Catalina De La Quinta answered with 27 points for Santiago. Romina Valenzuela finished with 18 points in the loss.
7-8 spot
Malvin - Univalle 70-85 Univalle gained the first win at the South American Club Championship in Quito. They defeated Malvin in their final showdown to grab the 7th spot. Malvin completed their campaign winless at the eighth position. Jannete Via Siles scored 19 points and collected 6 boards to pace Univalle. Zulema Cespedes added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Lucia Guadalupe responded with 19 points and 8 boards for Malvin. Fiorella Martinelli notched 12 points in the losing effort.
Final
UTE - Ourinhos 77-102 Ourinhos claimed the South American Club Championship title. They held off U.T.E in the final game to pick up the trophy. Both teams entered the game unbeaten and hoped for the top achievement. But the Brazilian team proved the difference notching a comfortable win at the end. Karen Rocha (177-G-84) scored 25 points to lead the charge. She was trumped the MVP of the tournament after the game. Patricia De Oliveira had 19 points for Ourinhos. Tayara De Jesus and Jucimara Dantas added 14 points each for the winners. Silvia Santos Luz responded with 22 points for U.T.E. Kelly Silva Santos delivered 20 points in the losing effort.

Regatas - Univalle 100-77 Regatas Lima earned the second win at the South American Club Championship. They defeated Univalle behind another sizzling performance from Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85). She knocked down 37 points and grabbed 6 boards to lead the Peruvian team. Regatas Lima will now face Santiago for the fifth overall position at the tournament. Univalle will look for the first win against Malvin today. Wynter Whitley produced 21 points and 8 boards for Regatas. Elvira Pino had 14 points and 8 boards in the victory. Zulema Cespedes responded with 18 points for Univalle. Laura Florida had 17 points in defeat.
Semifinal
Medellin - UTE 66-89 U.T.E have reached the championship game at the South American Club Championship. The tournament is being held in Quito and the hosts proved their highest ambitions taking down the Colombian champions in a one-sided clash yesterday. U.T.E will now face the Brazilian powerhouse Ourinhos for the title. Medellin will play against Central Enterriano for the bronze medals. Gisela Vega (188-C-82) exploded with 36 points and 16 boards to lead the charge. Silvia Santos Luz added 22 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds in the win. Erika Valek replied with 23 points, 6 boards and 4 assists for Medellin. Yaneth Arias notched 14 points and 7 rebounds in defeat.
Ourinhos - C.Entrerriano 97-65 Ourinhos paved their way into the South American Club Championship Final. They held off Central Enterriano in the semifinal yesterday. Patricia De Oliveira (180-F/G-79) scored 16 points to pace Brazilian champions to the win. They will face U.T.E of Ecuador in the championship game tonight. Central Enterriano will fight for the spot on the podium against Medellin. Jennifer Christina had 15 points for the winners. Karen Rocha knocked down 13 points for Ourinhos. Andrea Gale responded with 18 points and 11 boards for Central Enterriano. Noelia Mendoza finished with 15 points in defeat.

Univalle - Medellin 58-85

Ourinhos thus advanced into the semifinal to face Central Enterriano on Friday. Santiago finished in the third position in Pool A. They would play for the 5th-8th spot against Malvin tomorrow. Tayara De Jesus (180-F-82) notched 12 points and 7 boards to lead the charge. Bethania Vasconcelos knocked down 11 points, while Karina Da Silva had 11 points and 14 boards for the winners. Malvin - Regatas 70-84 Regatas Lima claimed the first win at the South American Club Championship in Ecuador. They defeated Malvin from Uruguay to finish the preliminary round at 1-2 record just outside the semifinal stage. Malvin failed to post a single victory and remained at the bottom of the ladder at 0-3. Regatas and Malvin will now fight for the 5th-8th place at the tournament. Regatas are scheduled to take on Univalle of Bolivia, while Malvin to play versus Santiago on Friday. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85) notched 27 points, 11 boards and 7 assists for the Lima outfit. Elvira Pino contributed 20 points for the winners. Lucia Guadalupe replied with 14 points for Malvin. Ximena Moure delivered 13 points in the losing effort.
UTE - C.Entrerriano 118-76 U.T.E remained undefeated at the South American Club Championship in Quito. They toppled Central Enterriano in the final game of the preliminary round to clinch the top spot in Group B. U.T.E would face Medellin of Colombia in the semifinal on Friday. Central Enterriano also booked the semifinal ticket despite the loss. They would be challenged by Ourinhos on July 17. Silvia Santos Luz (172-G-75) notched 24 points and 6 assists to lead U.T.E. Gisela Vega had 20 points, 7 boards and 4 assists in the victory. Liliana Tamburlini responded with 20 points for Central Enterriano. Maria Rotta canned 15 points in the losing effort.
