The basketball league in Suriname is still on a break, but on January 5th 2005, has been played a Charity Basketball event, with a tournemt featuring the C.L.D.(Caribbean Little Devils), Dorenas and Yellow Birds as the league champions, runners-up and second runners-up of the 2003-04 season along with the "Brothers and Sisters" from the Netherlands. The visiting team is a squad featuring all Surinamese players now playing/living in the Netherlands. The funds will be used to renovate the Ismay van Wilgen Sports Hall in Paramaribo were the Basketball Federation of Suriname hosts its league games. The opening game was a rematch between C.L.D. and Dorenas. After leading 39-33 at the break C.L.D. won 76-56. Winston Bosk (190-G-77) (C.L.D.) scored a game-high 26 points. C.L.D. fielded the Guyanese player Jason Alonso and guest player Jason Oron. Dorenas played with guest player Clarence Drielingen. Marvel van Klaveren scored 15 points for Dorenas. In the second game, Yellow Birds beat The Brothers and Sisters 69-49 after trailing 25-29 at the break. Marlon Maatrijk (Yellow Birds) scored 23 points, Romero Linger had 17. Patrick IJngard (who played for Yellow Birds) had 16 points for The Brothers, while Michael Riedewald (former De Arend/C.L.D.) had 9 points.
