Brazil - USA 38-81 USA is the winner of 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Colorado Springs. The strong USA team defended the title from 2008. Malina ann Howard (94) was the leading player in this victory with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Theresa Plaisance (92) scored 11 points and grabbed 5 boards, while Bria Hartley (93) also had 11 pts in this Final. Diamond Deshields (95) helped with 10 points and 7 boards. In Brazil, Damiris Dantas do Amaral (92) shined with 9 points and 13 rebounds. Tassia Pereira (93) also scored 9 pts in this game. As a reminder, both teams qualified for the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in Chile. USA took control on their rival from the very beginning. USA had another great quarter jumping to comfortable 16-43 at the half time. They didn't stop, despite question about the winner was already resolved. USA intensified defense even more, limiting Brazil to just six points in Q3. They drained 22 on the other side and the last ten minutes were just the formality (16-16). USA finished the championship in Colorado Springs with perfect 5-0 record.

Canada - Chile 81-42 Canada grabbed the Bronze in Colorado Springs. Canada showed their power against Chile 81-42 ending the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship as No.3. Both teams will participate at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship. Laura Anne Dally (180-G-92) shined for Canada in this game with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Katherine Plouffe (191-F-93) (6 rebs) and Melissa Mullins (183-F-92) (5 rebs) helped with 12 points each. Michelle Plouffe (191-F-92) had double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. In Chile, Fernanda Serrano (173-G-92) and Rocio Dieguez (92) delivered 10 points apiece. Both teams started the game nervously missing some wide open shots and making mistakes in offense. Canada still was slightly better as they made 11-8 lead in the first ten minutes. After that, Laura Anne Dally and her teammates totally took control on Chile. They created 25-13 in the second period for 36-21 lead at the half time. Nothing has changed after the breather, as Canada finished third period with 24-10. The game winner was already known at that time. Despite that fact, Canada played another strong quarter for the final 81-42 victory. Canada registered 4-1 record in this championship.

Mexico - Argentina 51-64 Argentina made it against Mexico finishing the FIBA Americas U18 Championship as No.5. This game was very important for both teams as the winner will participate at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship. Argentina grabbed 51-64 victory and till travel to Chile next year. Rocio Evangelina Diaz (93) top-scored for the winners with 19 points. Diana Cabrera (92) secured a nice help with double-double of 10 points and 10 boards. Melisa Gretter (92) collected 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. In Mexico, who ended as No.6, Laura Nunez (93) shined with 15 points and 18 boards. Ana Noriega (93) had 14 pts and 4 rebs. Argentina did a good job in the first 20 minutes of the game. Rocio Evangelina Diaz and her teammates made 10-14 in the opening period and after that finished Q2 with 9-14. That was enough for decent 9-point lead at the half time. Mexico slightly improved after the breather sending a signal that they will fight until the end. Still, their willingness was not enough and Argentina finished Q3 with 14-15. Argentina had no troubles to keep its advance in the last period and to celebrate crucial 51-64 victory.

Puerto Rico - Costa Rica 71-41 Puerto Rico outplayed Costa Rica and avoided the last place in Colorado Springs. Both teams were winless before this meeting. Kiara Quinones-Noa (93) stepped up for Puerto Rico with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. She was the MVP of this game with valuation 24. Mercedes Colon (94) helped her country with 12 points. Ashley Santos (93) added 9 points and 7 boards. In the loosing squad, Michelle Mayorga (93) shined with 22 points and 9 rebounds. She was the only player with double-digits in scoring in Costa Rica. Second quarter was the crucial one in this game. Before that Puerto Rico made 16-12 lead in Q1. In the second period Puerto Rico intensified defense forcing Costa Rica to many mistakes and tough shots. Costa Rica looked bad on the court and scored just one point for the entire quarter. On the other side, Puerto Rico drained 22 pts for nice 38-13 lead at the half time. Costa Rica recovered from Q2 shock, but still rest of the game belonged to Kiara Quinones-Noa and her teammates. They finished third period 17-13 and the last one 16 -15 for the final 71-41 victory. As a reminder, both teams failed to reach the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in Chile.

Kayla McBride (93) was another player with double-digits in scoring for the USA - 10 pts (5 rebs). On the other side, Chile did not have anyone with more than ten. Their best player was Paula Carrasco (94) with just 6 points. USA was a way better team and they dominated in all basketball elements. Chile was not able to score more than 9 points in any of four periods. USA made 26-7 lead in the opening ten minutes and until the half time jumped to impressive 46-10. For the second half Chinenye Ogwumike and her teammates drained 54 points, missing two more to reach 100 in this meeting. Chile had only 18 pts for 20 minutes and faced with huge 98-28 loss. They will not meet Canada in the battle for third place. The Big Final will also be played today (Sunday).
Canada - Brazil 49-50 Brazil grabbed 49-50 thriller win against Canada advancing to Championship Finals. It was a very exciting game and Brazil made it in the finish. It means that Brazil will take on powerful USA in the battle for Gold. On the other side, Canada will meet Chile in the game for third place. Carina Dos Santos (174-G/F-92) and Aruzha Lima (165-G-92) were the leading players in victory with 15 points each. Brazil did not have anyone else with double-digits in scoring. In Canada, Michelle Plouffe (191-F-92) and Katherine Plouffe (191-F-93) replied with 12 points apiece. They grabbed 8 and 7 rebounds respectively. Everything started great for Canada, who created 13-8 lead in the first ten minutes. Brazil struggled at both sides of the court and faced with another bad period (13-8). That resulted with 28-19 HT lead for Canada, who looked comfortable and in control. Michelle Plouffe and her teammates continued in the same rhythm extending the lead to 12 points before the last period. When it seemed that the game is already over, Brazilians finally started to play. Carina Dos Santos and Aruzha Lima were unstoppable offensively pacing their team to magnificent 9-22 in Q4, what was enough for 49-50 thriller win and a spot in the Finals.

Mexico - Puerto Rico 73-55 Mexico was too strong for Puerto Rico 73-55 in Day Four of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship. It means that Mexico will meet Argentina in the game for fifth place on this event. On the other side, Puerto Rico stays winless and will take on Costa Rica to avoid the last place in Colorado Springs. Ana Noriega (93) shined for the Mexicans with double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds. She was not the MVP of this game as that title belongs to Adriana Navarro (93), who reached valuation 24. Navarro had 12 points and 13 boards with pretty good shot percentage. Andrea Medina (93) helped her country with 18 points and 8 boards. In the loosing squad, Mercedes Colon (94) delivered 12 points. Sidney Santos (95) collected 10 pts and 5 boards. After the first half it was already clear that Mexico will take this one. Ana Noriega and her teammates created 20-7 lead in the first quarter and later jumped to 35-17 (HT). Puerto Rico slightly improved offensively after the breather, but Mexico did the same on the other side and increased its lead even more. Puerto Rico faced with 30 points deficit and the game was already over for them. Last ten minutes were just the formality. Both, Mexico - Argentina and Puerto Rico - Costa Rica games will be played today (Sunday).
Argentina - Costa Rica 86-34 Argentina failed to reach the Semifinals, but they quickly managed to recover from this elimination. Argentina outplayed Costa Rica 86-34 and will meet Mexico in the battle for fifth place in Colorado Springs. On the other side, Costa Rica will play against Puerto Rico in the game for seventh place. Natasha Spiatta (92) was the leading scorer in this victory with 17 points (5 rebs). Celia Fiorotto (92) was the MVP of this meeting with valuation 24. She spent 21 points on the floor collecting 14 points and 9 rebounds. Diana Cabrera (92) also helped the winners with 14 pts and 9 boards. Costa Rica had Michelle Mayorga (93) with 7 pts and 6 rebounds. Sofia Jimenez (93) also scored 7. Argentina won all four quarters in this game. Natasha Spiatta and her teammates made huge 26-6 in the first ten minutes and later ended Q2 with 19-8. At that time it was already clear who the winner of this game will be. Argentina made 41-20 in the second half for the final 86-34 victory. Game for fifth, as well as the game for seventh place, will be played today (Sunday).
