National Flour Mills won its second consecutive match in the North Zone Basketball Commission (NZBC), with a 67-57 victory over Diego Martin All Stars, at the Jean Pierre Complex, Wrightson Road, on Tuesday. The win came only 48 hours after an entertaining and convincing 82-71 victory for NFM over Caledonia Clippers. NFMs forward Kerry McMillan continued his fine form when he bagged 22 points, while Kwesi Julien assisted with nine points.


Gershwin Duncan and Roger Lewis scored 17 and 12 points, respectively for Diego Martin. On Sunday, NFM, temporarily without the guidance of coach Jamal Duke, who was banned for several matches due to his challenging of several of the referees decisions in the recent match against Defence Force, fared very well again Clippers. McMillian, took 17 points, followed by Ashton Demurrells 14 points, for the comfortable win. There was one Second Division match on Tuesday when Veterans sealed a simple 63-53 win over Straker Nets. Albert Sprott and Kerry Westfield combined for 25 points, for the winning team.

In Denmark, Akoon-Purcell had a team high 31pts and 8rebs as Bakken scored a comfortable 102-82 win over SISU on February 19. Currently, Akoon-Purcell is the leading scorer in the Ligaen League averaging 22.3ppg. While, Bakken remains in second position with an 18-3 record. Caballeros de Culiacan (CIBACOPA) signed experienced 36-year old Trinidad and Tobago ex-international point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances). It is actually his comeback to Caballeros de Culiacan as he has played here before. Young just played at KTP Basket in Finnish Korisliiga. Lighter' Lewis cops MVP award - 1 month ago
FORMER NATIONAL stand-out Stephen 'Lighter' Lewis walked away with the coveted Most Valuable Player award in the Premier Division at the bpTT Mayaro Basketball League's 2016 prize distribution, recently. The function was held at the Mayaro Indoor Sport Facility.
