National Flour Mills won its second consecutive match in the North Zone Basketball Commission (NZBC), with a 67-57 victory over Diego Martin All Stars, at the Jean Pierre Complex, Wrightson Road, on Tuesday. The win came only 48 hours after an entertaining and convincing 82-71 victory for NFM over Caledonia Clippers. NFMs forward Kerry McMillan continued his fine form when he bagged 22 points, while Kwesi Julien assisted with nine points.


Gershwin Duncan and Roger Lewis scored 17 and 12 points, respectively for Diego Martin. On Sunday, NFM, temporarily without the guidance of coach Jamal Duke, who was banned for several matches due to his challenging of several of the referees decisions in the recent match against Defence Force, fared very well again Clippers. McMillian, took 17 points, followed by Ashton Demurrells 14 points, for the comfortable win. There was one Second Division match on Tuesday when Veterans sealed a simple 63-53 win over Straker Nets. Albert Sprott and Kerry Westfield combined for 25 points, for the winning team.

On November 8 in Russia, Devaughn Akoon-Purcell had a great game in the last round for league's leader Bakken and was voted Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4. Akoon-Purcell top scored with 31pts with 6rebs as the defending Danish champs Bakken surprised the league leaders Russian Avtodor 97-85 in the FIBA Europe Cup competition. Akoon-Purcell shines in Europe Cup - 1 month ago
In the FIBA Europe Cup, guard Akoon-Purcell led Bakken to a 95-76 win over Portuguese Benfica on 25th October in a Group B contest. He had 25pts & 5rebs as Bakken improved its record to 1-1. In their opening game on the 18th October Bakken went under 73-76 to Russian Avtodor. He scored 17pts in the loss but they still maintained the top position after two rounds.
