The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) scored a slender 88-87 win over National Flour Mills (NFM) on Thursday in the 1st Division of the 2012 North Zone Basketball Commission (NZBC) League at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo.

UTT, who trailed 41-40 at the halftime interval, got 22 points from guard Jeffrey Harris and 20 from Kevon Noreiga. For NFM Kerry McMillan led with 21pts whilst Kwesi Julien added 18.

In the first game of a doubleheader, Macoya Forum registered a hard fought 61-56 victory against Trailblazers in a 2nd Division match up.

Delano Ribeiro top scored for Macoya with 13 points and Kareem Walker chipped in with 12. Juvani Andrews had a game-high 17 for Trailblazers while Issiah Wilkinson added 11.

Other results from games played earlier in the week were:

Men First Division: STRAKER NETS (81) - Sadiki Guerra 18 pts, Richard Guiseppi 16 pts vs NATIONAL FLOUR MILLS (54) - Ashton Demurrell 16 pts.

Men Second Division: TOGETHERNESS (72) - Jason Best 21 pts vs BRIAN CHASE VETERANS (68) - Collin Phillip 16 pts, Derrick Cornbread James 13 pts.

Julius Ashby finished an outstanding season with Fukuoka Rizing - May 20, 2013

Julius Ashby (205-F/C-82, college: Colorado) finished an outstanding season in Japan. His Fukuoka Rizing reached the Finals in BJ league, however lost to Yokohama 90:101. Fukuoka Rizing was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 61-46 second half run of Yokohama BC. Valencia wins KO! - Apr 18, 2013

Valencia emerged as the Arima Basketball Knockout Champions 2013 when they defeated La Horquetta 85 to 72 on Sunday 14 April. Heat lead throughout the contest 24-20, 38-36 and 68-52. Fabrice Fisher led Valencia with 32 points, Ivan Williams 19 points, Stefan Davis 16 points and Kenrick Bernard 10 points. For La Horquetta Ronaldo Lett had 14 points, Dexter Morain and Miguel Williams scored 13 points each while Jeffrey Bourne added 10 points in a losing effort.    [read more]

On Wednesday 10th April, High Voltage defeated Omeara 78-57 in round 3 of the 2013 Arima Basketball Knockout Competition. Shawn Lawrence led High Voltage with 18 points, while Randy Greenige and Kegan Craig scored 12 points each. Mathew Sheppard had 18 points for O'meara and Kareem Davis added 11 points.
