The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) scored a slender 88-87 win over National Flour Mills (NFM) on Thursday in the 1st Division of the 2012 North Zone Basketball Commission (NZBC) League at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo.
UTT, who trailed 41-40 at the halftime interval, got 22 points from guard Jeffrey Harris and 20 from Kevon Noreiga. For NFM Kerry McMillan led with 21pts whilst Kwesi Julien added 18.
In the first game of a doubleheader, Macoya Forum registered a hard fought 61-56 victory against Trailblazers in a 2nd Division match up.
Delano Ribeiro top scored for Macoya with 13 points and Kareem Walker chipped in with 12. Juvani Andrews had a game-high 17 for Trailblazers while Issiah Wilkinson added 11.

Julius Ashby (205-F/C-82, college: Colorado) finished an outstanding season in Japan. His Fukuoka Rizing reached the Finals in BJ league, however lost to Yokohama 90:101.

Draelon Burns stepped up and scored 34 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and swingman Masayuki Kabaya chipped in 35 points (!!!) (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Pape Faye followed them with 11 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Reginald Warren responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds and the other Josh Peppers scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Julius Ashby collected 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. In 2012-2013 for Fukuoka Rizing (Japan-BJ League, starting five) Julius Ashby averaged high 14.3 points per game.

Fabrice Fisher led Valencia with 32 points, Ivan Williams 19 points, Stefan Davis 16 points and Kenrick Bernard 10 points.

Opening round on Sunday 7th April, Valencia 108 vs. Vintage 47. Fabrice Fisher led Valenica with 30pts, Ivan Williams had 24 and Jeffery Saunders got 21 points . Wayne Cupid and Kelvin Peterkin both scored 16pts each for Vintage.
San Juan Warriors 43 vs. Samaroo Village 42. Sean Solomon and Michael Straker scored 15pts and 10pots respectively for San Juan. Both Dayne Cummings and Roger Moore scored 13 points each for Samaroo.
