Millennium Basketball Academy (MBA) scored a convincing 79-49 win over Hawks on Saturday evening in the 19&U Division of the North Zone Basketball Commission League at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo.

MBA controlled the tempo though out the game and went up 13-6, 30-16 and 52-37 by the end of the third quarter. However in the final session MBA led by Ivan Williams with a game high 17pts outscored Hawks 27-12. Williams, who was switched to the point guard role during the game, got off to a slow start with only 4pts scored in the first half. However during the second period, he hit three consecutive shots from beyond the arc as MBA surged ahead of Hawks.

To add to Hawks demise, the game ended with two dunks from the MBA players. With less than one minute remaining, 6-10 center Johnathan Hamilton returned to the court and immediately scored a dunk. Next possession, Hamilton threw an outlet pass from under his team baseline on a fast break to forward Matthew Sheppard for an explanation dunk on the buzzer.

For the winners captain Khalid Arrindell added 15pts, Hamilton chipped in with 14, Christian Arthur had 11 and Sheppard got 8, including three dunks!

Whilst for Hawks D. Gonzales led with 12pts.

Leyma Basquet Coruna (LEB Gold) announced the arrival of 27-year old Trinidad and Tobago ex-international center Kyle Rowley (213-107kg-90, college: St.Mary's, CA). Rowley comes from Araberri, where he spent 5 months before parting ways with the Basque team last week. In 14 games he averaged 8.6ppg and 7.5rpg this season. 27-year old Trinidad and Tobago center Kyle Rowley (213-107kg-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) left LEB Gold newcomer Saenz Horeca Araberri.In 14 LEB Gold games in Spain he averaged 8.6ppg and 7.5rpg this season. Rowley also spent pre-season at Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (Liga Endesa) earlier that year. He played in the final of WCC Tournament in 2013. Akoon-Purcell leads T&T foreign based players - 1 month ago
Guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell was Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) top basketball player on the international pro-circuit. In Denmark, Akoon-Purcell had a team high 31pts and 8rebs as Bakken scored a comfortable 102-82 win over SISU on February 19. Currently, Akoon-Purcell is the leading scorer in the Ligaen League averaging 22.3ppg. While, Bakken remains in second position with an 18-3 record.
