The Millennium Basketball Academy (MBA) will be hosting the T&T Basketball Development Camp from August 9-11, 2012 at the Maloney Indoor Sporting Complex, Maloney Gardens.This year marks the tenth anniversary of the MBA and in celebration the theme for the camp is Mock NBA Training Camp.
The camp will target the top 40 players between the ages 16-19yrs. Also observing coaches will be invited to participate. The players (boys & girls) for the camp will be chosen at a screening session on August 6 to be conducted by the MBA technical staff headed by former national coach Joseph Lenny Guy. The session will be held from 1-4pm at the Tacarigua Indoor Complex, Tacarigua.
Meanwhile the coaches listed to conduct the training sessions at the camp include Lawrence Mann, Professional Athletic Consultant/Trainer & Founder Top Achievers Foundation, Texas; Clifford Ray, Assistant Coach Sacramento Kings & ex NBA player, 1975 NBA Championships Golden State Warriors; Alfred Butch Beard: former Head Coach, NJ Nets & ex player 1975 NBA Championships Golden State Warriors, Author of the Complete Basketball Player manual; and Morlon Wiley, ex NBA player/Assistant Coach, Orlando Magic.
Following the camp the MBA Boys 19u team will depart for Orlando on August 14. Whilst in the USA the team will participate in the International Global Basketball Cup which will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sport Complex, Walt Disney World.

Meanwhile in the EBA Division, 6-11 center Richard Peters scored a team high 23pts as Carbajosa defeated Gijon 85-68 on April 8th. Peters is enjoying an average of 10.4pts & 6.2rebs in sixteen games for his team since transferring from Plasencia. Currently, Carbajosa is in fifth place with a 15-12 record in Group A-B.
Across in Denmark, 6-5 guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell scored 18pts, 5rebs & 2 assists but 2nd ranked Bakken was still upset by Naestved 83-91 at home in the opening semi-final game of the BasketLigaen Playoffs on April 6. Akoon-Purchell is averaging 18.3pts, 4.7rebs & 3.5 assists.
In the FIBA Europe Cup competition, Akoon-Purchell enjoys a higher average of 19.6pts, 5.1rebs & 4.4 assists per game. On March 27, he scored 19pts & 8 assists as Bakken secured a semi-final spot with a tough 86-80 overtime win against French team LePortel. In the first game at home on March 20, he registered 15pts, 5rebs & 3 assists in a 76-62 victory for Bakken. On April 11, Bakken will play Italy Serie A team, Scandone AV, in their first semi-final match-up.

He was ably assisted by his classmate Desi Rodriguez who had 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, Ismael Sanogo with a double-double, 10pts & 10rebs, Myles Powell with 19pts & 9rebs, and Angel Delgado (Dominican Republic) who added 13pts, 9rebs and 4asts.
In a closely contest battle, Seaton Hall eventually gained full control after Carrington score a pair of free throws with 7:58 left as the Pirates went ahead by 5pts. Afterwards, they forced a turnover and got a layup from Powell. With another turnover and two defense stops and a Powell layup the lead increased to double-digits, 77-66, with 5:53 left. Rodriguez punctuated the win when Carrington stole the ball with under 30 seconds left and he hit a wide open layup to the delight of the diehard Pirates fans in attendance.
Carrington's 11 free throws are a season high and tied Seton Hall's NCAA Tournament record, also held by Terry Dehere vs. Western Kentucky in 1993. He also added 4rebs, 3assists and 2steals. It was his 27th career 20-point game and ninth of the season, including his fifth in the last six games.
The Hall is also now 38-14 all-time and 11-1 this season when Carrington makes at least two three-pointers.

Hamilton made 8 of his 10 field goal attempts and went 7-of-8 from the free throw line. However, his team endured its toughest shooting effort of the season and shot just 29.8 percent from the field and made only 4 of 25 3-point attempts in its first-ever Sun Belt title game. UTA concluded its season with a 21-13 record, its third-straight 20-win season and a fourth place regular season finish in the Sun Belt;
It was Hamilton 7th double-double of the season and his 3 block shots against Georgia State, extending his program single season record to 77. His total is also the seventh-highest career total in program history. His scoring total was his second-highest single game total of the season.
He joined his teammate Eric Neal, Louisiana's Frank Bartley, Georgia State's Isaiah Williams and tournament MVP D'Marcus Simons of the Panthers on the All-Tournament Team.
UTA ends its season with its third-straight 20-win season and its 72 victories over the last three years is the second highest total among Division I programs in the state of Texas. Along with UTA, only the University of Houston has won 20 or more games in each of the last three seasons.
Hamilton ended his UTA career with averaging 8.1rbs per game, 11.4pts and shot .664% free throws with .629 field goal %. He also registered 17 seals along with his record breaking 77 blocks.
Meanwhile, in the NCAA tournament point guard Kadeem Carrington will lead 8th ranked Seton Hall against 9th ranked North Carolina State on Thursday in Wichita, Kansas. Carrington is a key part of the Pirates success this season averaging 14.9pts, 4.5 assists and 3.2rbs per game.
