The Hoop Of Life Community Basketball League is calling all individuals from the communities and environs of Arouca, Arima, Maloney, La Horquetta and Malabar, who are interested in being trained as basketball Referees and Table Officials, to attend the first of several workshops this weekend.
The workshop will commen
ce on Saturday 22 September at the Conference Room at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua from 10 am to 1 pm, and continue on Sunday 23 September, from 9 am to noon.
A similar two-day programme will be held at the St Madeline Regional Sports Complex on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September from 10 am to 1 pm on both days.
The workshop module will included all aspects of Refeering and Table Officials operations. Interested participants will be exposed the rules, laws and mechanics of the refereeing and the practical operations of table officiating according the FIBA, the world governing body for the sport.
So far, workshops have been conducted in the East Sector 3 for the communities of -- Valencia, Sangre Grande, Cumana, Manzanila and Toco and in central for -- Couva, Edinburgh 500, Enterprise, St Helina and Longdenville.
Workshops will be held in all 12 Sectors in Trinidad and Tobago involving 60 communitiries.

Leyma Basquet Coruna (LEB Gold) announced the arrival of 27-year old Trinidad and Tobago ex-international center Kyle Rowley (213-107kg-90, college: St.Mary's, CA). Rowley comes from Araberri, where he spent 5 months before parting ways with the Basque team last week. In 14 games he averaged 8.6ppg and 7.5rpg this season. 27-year old Trinidad and Tobago center Kyle Rowley (213-107kg-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) left LEB Gold newcomer Saenz Horeca Araberri.In 14 LEB Gold games in Spain he averaged 8.6ppg and 7.5rpg this season. Rowley also spent pre-season at Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (Liga Endesa) earlier that year. He played in the final of WCC Tournament in 2013. Akoon-Purcell leads T&T foreign based players - 6 days ago
Guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell was Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) top basketball player on the international pro-circuit. In Denmark, Akoon-Purcell had a team high 31pts and 8rebs as Bakken scored a comfortable 102-82 win over SISU on February 19. Currently, Akoon-Purcell is the leading scorer in the Ligaen League averaging 22.3ppg. While, Bakken remains in second position with an 18-3 record.
