DETOUR Shak Attack point-guard Orlando Mapp was on fire as Laventille destroyed Belmont 97-49 in their North Sector Hoop of Life Community Basketball Tournament at the Raymond Reid Court St Clair on Sunday.

Mapp led the star studded Laventillians with a game-high 30 points as they were too hot for the home team to handle. The visitors jumped out to a 23-8 lead at the end of the first quarter making their intentions clear.

The home had a better second period, but they were still behind by 23 points heading into half-time. Laventille came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter as they scored 28 points in the period compare to just 12 by their opponents as the third ended 72-33.

The visitors kept up the intensity in the final-quarter as they added 25 and in the process holding the home team to 16 as they came away with their fourth win from as many matches.

Centre Ashton Du Murrell supported well with 14 points, while Ancil Olliverre and Steven Lighter Lewis chipped in with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Nathyon Lewis led Belmont with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Quincy Mc Fee added ten points.

Meanwhile Kemba Edwards led Santa Flora to a 48-44 victory in a low scoring encounter over Fyzabad at the Santa Flora Court, Jacob Settlement. This marked the second win for the home team in three matches.

Edwards led the way with a team-high 15 points. Kaylon Cuffie had a game-high 17 points in a losing cause for the visitors. He also dished out five assists and claimed six steals.

Khadeen Carrington had a great first-half performance for Seton Hall against 5th ranked Xavier on Friday. He tallied 14pts, 5rebs and 3assists in the first 16 minutes against Xavier as the Pirates beat the Musketeers 87-83 in the semi-finals.
