Police scored a well deserved 91-75 win over Detour Shak Attack on Thursday evening at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo. With the victory, Police leveled the best of three series 1-1. The deciding game for the NBFTT National Club Championship will be held on Sunday at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port of Spain, from 7:00pm.

From the tip-off, Shak Attack controlled the tempo to the end the first quarter 23-16. However, Police led by Dextroy Manswell, with a game high 20pts, rallied back to close the second half trailing 44-42.

In the third session, both teams traded baskets at each end of the court. With 2:46mins left in the period, power forward Andrew Ifill took control for a brief spell with two huge dunks and a free throw as Shak Attack regained the initiative 57-53. Unfortunately, just as it seems that Ifill was gaining his rhythm he picked up his 4th foul with 1:18mins left and was immediately substituted. Police, then, capitalized on the opportunity to surge ahead with a slender 58-57 lead for an interesting final period.

With the title at stake, Shak Attack was still matching their opponents. But, at the 6:36 mark Ifill was called for his final foul with Police ahead 67-65. In the midst of the contest, Shak Attack relied on too many low percentage shots and was outscored 15-7 as Police seized the initiative, 82-72, with 1:19mins remaining.

For Police, Manswell was ably supported by Fabrice Fisher and Wesley Vincent with 18pts apiece, while both Don Wilkinson and Ronell. Winter added 12 points each. Kurt Christian led Shak Attack with 15pts, Andrew Ifill had 12, Orlando Mapp got 11 while Virgil Fraser and Andy Best each had 10 in a losing effort.
