T&T U15 suffers second Centrobasket loss - Aug 26, 2016

Despite a triple-double of 11rebs, 10 assists and a game high 38pts by guard Jordan Persad, T&T still went under 90-100 to Panama at the Centrobasket U15 Championships in Patillas, Puerto Rico on Thursday. With the victory on the second day, Panama booked a semi-final spot while T&T will seek their first Group B win today against Guyana who are also winless after two games.

The game against Panama was an improved performance by team T&T. The previous day in their opening game, T&T were crushed by Dominican Republic, 122-65. Persad led T&T with 22pts, 7 assists & 5 steals. His efficiency rating was + 14. In addition Nicholai Mills added 13pts for T&T, Netrell Malcolm had 11pts and Micah Didier-Leblanc got 10pts & 7rebs. Emmanuel Rodriguez led Dominican Republic with 18pts.

However in a hard fought battle against Panama, T&T trailed by only six points, 43-37, at the end of the first half. In the third quarter, Panama controlled the tempo and extended their lead by 15pts, 71-56. In the final period, T&T rallied back to outscore their opponents 34-29 but Panama still held for the win.

Jordan, who had a record-breaking efficiency rating of +45, was ably supported by Didier-Leblanc with double-double of 12pts & 12rebs. While, Zidane Moore tallied 9pts, 5 assists & 5rebs, Mills had 9pts and Robertson- Forrester got 8pts & 8rebs in the losing effort. The top scorer for Panama was Edmund Lopez with 33 points.
