Ian Young
Caballeros de Culiacan (CIBACOPA) signed experienced 36-year old Trinidad and Tobago ex-international point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances). It is actually his comeback to Caballeros de Culiacan as he has played here before. Young just played at KTP Basket in Finnish Korisliiga. In 8 games he had 10.4ppg, 1.8rpg, 1.9apg and 1.0spg this season. The last summer Young played at Caballeros de Culiacan where in 34 CIBACOPA games he recorded very impressive stats: 16.1ppg, 3.6rpg and 3.1apg.
In 2007 (two years after he left the college) Young was drafted by Iowa Energy (D-League) in ninth round (126th overall).
The former Auburn University staris in his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Young's team made it to the Puerto Rican BSN Cup final in 2013. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-CBC Championships 2nd Team back in 2009.
Young represented Trinidad and Tobago at the CBC Championships in Tortilla (BVI) eight years ago.
He is quite experienced player. Young has played in fifteen different countries on four different continents (Europe, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Argentina, Bosnia, Brazil (Macae), Dominican Rep., France, Germany, Iran, Italy (Imola and Cantini Lorano), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela (Gaiteros), Puerto Rico (Brujos, Cangrejeros and Mets), Egypt (Al Ahly), Mexico (Lechugueros) and Dominican Republic (Indios de San Francisco).
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Culiacan.
Young could be described: Very strong combination guard ... very good scorer ... can play the point guard position ... very good shooter ... good ball-handler ... good defender.
