Akoon-Purcell leads T&T foreign based players - Feb 22, 2017

Guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell was Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) top basketball player on the international pro-circuit. In Denmark, Akoon-Purcell had a team high 31pts and 8rebs as Bakken scored a comfortable 102-82 win over SISU on February 19. Currently, Akoon-Purcell is the leading scorer in the Ligaen League averaging 22.3ppg. While, Bakken remains in second position with an 18-3 record.

Another outstanding display came from Joey Haywood. In NBL Canada games, Haywood scored 16pts, 4rebs & 3 assists for Halifax Hurricanes in a 108-123 away loss to London Lighting on February 20. It was the best performance for the former 33-year old T&T point guard since his return to the pro-circuit in Canada early this year.

Down in Japan, guard Daniel Dillon (6-4) scored 10pts and 4 assists for Hiroshima in the Japanese B League D2. But in a losing effort the 2nd ranked Hiroshima D still went under to top-ranked Gunma 82-86 on February 18. The loss ended a 12-game winning streak for the Hiroshima Dragonflies.

While in Spain, center Kyle Rowley's Araberri went under to Huesca 71-75 on February 18. Rowley finished with 6pts & 6rebs. With the unexpected loss Araberri dropped to 10th ranked with a 12-12 record. While, Huesca improved to 16th place with a 6-18 record.

Point guard Khadeen Carrington was in ripping form scoring a team high 26pts as Seton Hall won its first NCAA Tournament game in 14 years, with a 94-83 win over NC State, on Thursday at INTRUST Bank Arena. With the victory the 8th ranked Pirates will play No. 1 seed Kansas on Saturday at 7:10pm in the Midwest Region. Hamilton shines in title game! - 7 days ago
Center Johnny Hamilton registered a team high 23pts, 14rebs and 3 blocks for the University of Texas Arlington (UTA) in the Sun Belt Championship game on Sunday at Lakefront Arena, New Orleans. But, his UTA Mavericks still went under 74-61 against Georgia State who secured an automatic place, with the win, in the NCAA 2018 Tournament. Center Johnny Hamilton registered his personal best while playing for the University of Texas, Arlington, on Saturday evening at College Park Center. First during the Senior Day ceremonies, the 7' Hamilton proposed to his girlfriend, Rachael Ross who accepted. Afterwards, Hamilton blocked 3 shots against Georgia State to surpass the program record for most blocks in a single season with 72.
