Tim Duncan
Slam Duncan O's, named for the Spurs' star power forward Tim Duncan (211-F/C-76, college: Wake Forest), officially hit H-E-B stores Monday and demand is expected to be high after early samples of the product released last month were listed for sale on Ebay, according to company executives.
It took two hours to sell out the first 500 boxes of the limited edition honey nut toasted cereal with chocolate puffs, which were accidentally stocked on the shelves of one store Friday, said Cory Basso, H-E-B's vice president of marketing and advertising.
H-E-B is producing up to 400,000 boxes of the cereal, which touts Duncan's 19-year record with the Spurs. The supermarket chain is limiting purchases to six per customer.
Basso said he anticipates the product line will be sold out after three months. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Tim Duncan Foundation.
'Once they're gone, they're gone,' Basso said. 'There won't be a reprint. And, we're doing that to keep it limited edition because we think that makes it more special.'
Duncan, who retired in July, won't be appearing with current Spurs players in future commercials, Basso said, but has filmed another ad to accompany the cereal rollout that will begin airing Monday and is on the hook for at least two more before the end of 2017.

Zalgiris adds small forward O'Neale - 20 hours ago
Zalgiris Kaunas continued fortifying its roster for the 2017-18 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season by signing small forward Royce O'Neale (198-SF-93, college: Baylor) to a one-plus-one contract. O'Neale (1.96 meters, 24 years old) played last season for Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas, putting up impressive all-around numbers in the 7DAYS EuroCup. In 22.2 minutes on average over 16 games, he scored 10.3 points, pulled 5.6 rebounds, dished 2.3 assists and made 1.1 steals. He shot 52.9% o...   [read more]

Fredricks cites relationship with UNT hoops staff as reason for commitment - 2 days ago
Rashawn Fredericks (198-G-97) has thoroughly enjoyed his time playing for the U.S. Virgin Islands national team and Jareem Dowling. That relationship paid dividends for North Texas this week, when Fredericks announced that he will continue his career with the Mean Green. New UNT head coach Grant McCasland brought Dowling with him from Arkansas State, where both coached last season. Dowling is from the Virgin Islands and is a coach with their national team program in the offseason. Frederi...   [read more]

John Collins
Collins selected by the Hawks - 4 days ago
Atlanta is probably the most populated city where Virgin Islanders call home in the United States. Make room for one more as John Collins (208-F-97) was selected by the Atlanta Hawks at the 2017 NBA Draft. Collins played an instrumental role in bringing Wake Forest out of the basement of the ACC and leading them back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. He will now have an opportunity to bump heads with rap sensation Rock City and Benny Demus. Collins was selected 19th ov...   [read more]
