We bring you last week's top performances from Virgin Islanders who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.


Frank Elegar

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup). He could not help Enisey in their last game. Despite Elegar's very good performance the third-placed Enisey lost 96-104 on the road to the leading Demir IBB in the group P of FIBA Europe Cup. He had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 11 rebounds. Elegar also added 2 blocks in 39 minutes on the court. It's Elegar's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Elegar averages: 16.2ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.4apg, 1.6bpg, 2FGP: 68.7%(68-99) and FT: 67.7% in 11 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: U.S. Virgin Islands and Guyanese. Elegar is currently a member of the U.S. Virgin Islands senior national team.

Victor Cuthbert

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international forward Victor Cuthbert (197-83, college: Murray St., currently plays in South Korea). Cuthbert led ET Land Elephants to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Mobis Phoebus (22-20) 78-59 in the South Korean KBL on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 16 rebounds. Cuthbert also added 3 blocks in 32 minutes. Inchon ET Land Elephants (20-23) are placed sixth in the KBL. Cuthbert has relatively good stats this year: 11.3ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.1apg, 1.9spg, 2FGP: 56.5%(182-322), 3FGP: 29.9% in 43 games. He is in the roster of the U.S. Virgin Islands senior national team.

Ivan Aska

   #3. The U.S. Virgin Islands player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St., currently plays in South Korea) is a teammate of previously mentioned Victor Cuthbert and both played together in the last South Korean KBL game. Aska was the major contributor in an ET Land Elephants' victory against the closely-ranked Mobis Phoebus (22-20) 78-59. He recorded 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. This season Aska has very high stats. He averages: 15.5ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 53.8% and FT: 51.7%. Aska is another player who holds two passports: U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rican. He is also a member of the U.S. Virgin Islands senior national team.

Craig Williams

   #4. Center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU, currently plays in Japan) led Orange Vikings to a victory over the fourth-ranked Aomori Watts (16-22) 88-81 in the Japanese B League D2 last Sunday. Williams was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds in 30 minutes. Ehime Orange Vikings (18-20) are placed fourth in West group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Williams has relatively solid stats: 12.0ppg, 8.1rpg and 1.5apg in 35 games. He is also U.S. Virgin Islands national team player.

   #5. International forward Jordan Murphy (198-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Minnesota's victory against the University of Michigan (10-2) 83-78 in the NCAA on Sunday night. Murphy recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 15 rebounds. The University of Minnesota has 6-6 conference record this season. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Murphy has reliable stats this season: 10.8ppg, 8.5rpg and 1.1bpg. He has both American and U.S. Virgin Islands nationalities. Murphy plays currently for the U.S. Virgin Islands national team.

   #6. Guard Khallid Hart (188-95, currently studies in the States) contributed to a 2-point Marist's victory against the Canisius College (7-9) 76-74 in the NCAA in Sunday night's game. He scored 22 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 35 minutes. The Marist College has not so impressive 3-13 conference record this season. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Hart is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Marist's roster. Hart has very impressive stats this season: 17.8ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.2apg in 28 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior U.S. Virgin Islands National Team roster.

   #7. International forward Justin Gray (198-95, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Texas Tech (5-8) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Texas Tech was edged 82-80 in Ames by the Iowa State University. Gray recorded 16 points and blocked 2 shots in 39 minutes. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Gray has been at the team for four years. This season his overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.8apg in 27 games. Gray is also U.S. Virgin Islands national team player.

Forward Javier Martinez (201-93, agency: DTMones, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to secure a victory for the Tenn-Martin (8-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the Tenn-Martin was crushed 90-61 at home by the Southeast Missouri State University. Martinez recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Martinez plays fourth season for the team. His stats this year are: 12.2ppg, 8.2rpg and 1.5apg. Martinez plays currently for the U.S. Virgin Islands national team.

   #9. International guard Angel Rivera (173-95, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Stetson (2-9) in their game against the New Jersey Institute of Technology (3-8) in the NCAA. He scored only 4 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 8 assists. The Stetson was defeated 60-56 on their home court in DeLand by the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Rivera's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. Rivera's total stats this season are: 8.3ppg, 3.2rpg and 5.5apg. He is also in the roster of the U.S. Virgin Islands national team.

   #10. Guard LeRon Smith (190, currently plays in NAIA) managed to help Stillman College to win against the Tougaloo College crushing them 100-71 in the SIAC in Saturday night's game. He recorded only 2 points. The Stillman College has a very solid - record this season. This year Smith has very high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.7apg. Smith is an international player who is currently on the senior U.S. Virgin Islands National Team roster.

   #1. John Collins (208-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Wake Forest (6-8) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance the Wake Forest was defeated 99-94 at home by the Duke University. Collins recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and getting 15 rebounds. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Collins has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.1ppg, 9.8rpg and 1.6bpg.

   #2. Deon Edwin (190-G-92, currently studies in the States) led Kent St. to a 3-point victory against the The University of Akron (2-10) 70-67 in the NCAA last Friday. Edwin scored 21 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks. The Kent State University has 4-7 conference record this season. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Edwin's stats this season are: 13.0ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.3spg.

   #3. Tony Aska (202-F, currently plays in NCAA2) was not able to help the Southern Arkansas in their game against the Ouachita Baptist University in the NCAA2. He scored 8 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 32 minutes. his team lost 82-88 on the road to the Ouachita Baptist University. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA2 Regular Season. This year Aska's total stats are: 7.5ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.2apg and 1.9bpg in 21 games he played so far.

   #4. Jahmiah Simmons (193-G, is currently at the American university) contributed to an Arkansas St.'s victory against the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (11-1) 67-58 in the NCAA in Friday night's game. Simmons scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. The Arkansas State University has a solid 8-3 conference record this season. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. This year Simmons' total stats are: 6.2ppg and 4.7rpg in 20 games.

   #5. Kyle Clarke (196-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the University of North Florida (3-8) 85-68 in the NCAA last Saturday. He scored 8 points. The Kennesaw State University has 6-5 conference record this season. Clarke's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. Clarke's total stats this season are: 4.4ppg, 1.7rpg and 2.5apg.

   #6. Desi Rodriguez (198-F-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Seton Hall to a victory against the Xavier University 71-64 in the NCAA on Wednesday night. He scored 22 points, had 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 37 minutes. Rodriguez has very impressive stats this year: 15.4ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.7apg in 27 games.

Rashawn Fredericks (198-G-97) has thoroughly enjoyed his time playing for the U.S. Virgin Islands national team and Jareem Dowling. That relationship paid dividends for North Texas this week, when Fredericks announced that he will continue his career with the Mean Green. Make room for one more as John Collins (208-F-97) was selected by the Atlanta Hawks at the 2017 NBA Draft. SAN ANTONIO - Time flies when you're having fun and that can't be more true for Tim Duncan who was drafted by the Spurs 20 years ago. The San Antonio Spurs posted a tribute video on Facebook of Duncan by throwing it back to Draft Day 1997 where he was the first overall pick.
