Tim Duncan
Former Wake Forest superstar Tim Duncan (211-F/C-76, college: Wake Forest) will be taking his place among the legends of college basketball this year.

Duncan will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame with five former players and one coach as part of the 2017 class.

Duncan, who played four seasons for the Deacons from 1993-1997, helped Wake Forest earn four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths. The 6-foot-11 native of the Virgin Islands holds the conference record for blocked shots in a career (481) and ranks second in Wake Forest history for rebounds (1,570) and fourth in points scored (2,117).

He was the national player of the year in 1997, was a two-time consensus All-American and was named the ACC Player of the Year twice.

Duncan was picked No. 1 overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1997 NBA draft and won five league championships with the Spurs, the last coming in 2014.

He will be the second Wake Forest alumnus inducted in the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Billy Packer, a 1962 graduate of Wake Forest, went into the Hall of Fame as a broadcaster in 2008, the same year current Wake Forest coach Danny Manning was also enshrined.

So when the NBA draft was conducted in June of 1987, the San Antonio Spurs were left to cash their first pick in on a center from Navy named David Robinson. 'At the end of the day I wasn't ready, physic...   [read more]
