Regatas Lima - Malvin 84:70 Regatas Lima claimed the first win at the South American Club Championship in Ecuador. They defeated Malvin from Uruguay to finish the preliminary round at 1-2 record just outside the semifinal stage. Malvin failed to post a single victory and remained at the bottom of the ladder at 0-3. Regatas and Malvin will now fight for the 5th-8th place at the tournament. Regatas are scheduled to take on Univalle of Bolivia, while Malvin to play versus Santiago on Friday. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85) stepped up with another sizzling performance to pace Regatas Lima to the win. The Peruvian team led by 5 points after ten minutes. They went on a 12:2 run in the second quarter to open up a double-digit lead. Regatas arrived at halftime leading by as many as 19 points. Malvin struck back in the second half winning it by 5 points but it was not enough to threaten Regatas. Paola Ferrari notched 27 points, 11 boards and 7 assists for the Lima outfit. Elvira Pino contributed 20 points for the winners. Lucia Guadalupe replied with 14 points for Malvin. Ximena Moure delivered 13 points in the losing effort.

And once again a slow start cost Malvin a game. The Uruguayan team had to deal with a 17-point halftime deficit and suffered a bitter loss 61:80 loss at the end. Amber Metoyer knocked down 18 points and grabbed 8 boards for Malvin. Eboni Mangum finished with 10 points in the loss. Malvin then lost to Regatas Lima 43:56 to slip at 0-3 record. Florencia Somma nailed 11 points but it was not enough for Malvin as they could not dig out of a 14-point deficit after the opening quarter. Maria Lucia Guadalupe had 8 points in defeat.

Rina Yepez and her teammates blasted Uruguay with 21-8 in third quarter and later closed this game with 20-12 (Q4) for the final 69-45 victory.
