33-year old Clarence Matthews (201-SF-83) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Tabare and receives a Latinbasket.com Ascenso Player of the Week award for round 23. He had a double-double of 35 points and 17 rebounds, while his team edged out Atenas (#2, 15-6) 82-80. Tabare maintains the 5th position in Uruguayan Ascenso. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tabare will need more victories to improve their 12-8 record. In the team's last game Matthews had a remarkable 57.9% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Tabare, through which he has constantly improved. Tennessee State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Matthews is in league's top in points (3rd best: 23.1ppg), rebounds (5th best: 12.9rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 55.9% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Will Creekmore (205-C-89) of Bohemios. He is American center in his first season at Bohemios. In the last game Creekmore recorded impressive 34 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led Bohemios to another comfortable win 91-75 over the lower-ranked Marne (#11, 6-13) being unquestionably team leader. Bohemios' 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 14-6 record is not bad at all. Creekmore is one of the most experienced players at Bohemios and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.7ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 12.0rpg and 3.6apg.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Trevante Drye (200-F-93) of Stockolmo (#7). Drye scored 20 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). Despite Drye's great performance Stockolmo lost 61-72 to slightly lower-ranked Capitol (#9, 9-12). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Stockolmo needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 10 victories and 9 lost games. Drye has a great season in Uruguay. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.3ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 15.3rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.4bpg and FGP: 52.7%.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
