Guard Joaquin Izuibejeres (184-G-82) had a great game in the last round for Hebraica, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 24. The 30-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, eight rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Larre Borges (#15, 5-19) with 18-point margin 88-70. Hebraica maintains the 5th position in Uruguayan LUB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Hebraica will need more victories to improve their 15-9 record. In the team's last game Izuibejeres had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 8 attempts. It's his second year at Hebraica and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Joaquin Izuibejeres averages this season 11.5ppg and 5.1rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was 31-year old U.S. Virgin Islands Jason Edwin (197-G/F-81) of Nacional. Edwin had a very good evening with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Nacional was edged by the higher-ranked Bohemios (#7, 13-11) 82-80. Nacional are still at the very bottom. 19 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Nacional managed to get this year. Edwin is a newcomer at Nacional, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Kyle Hunt (207-F) of Olimpia (#11). Hunt scored 21 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Hunt's great performance Olimpia lost 65-67 to the higher-ranked Malvin (#2, 18-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Olimpia ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 13 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Hunt could help Olimpia to bring them higher in the standings. Hunt has a great season in Uruguay. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.2rpg (7th best). He also has 2.3bpg and FGP: 57.7%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Gregory Dilligard (203-F-85) of Aguada - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Walter Baxley (193-G-84) of Defensor - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Christopher Hayes (206-F-87) of Aguada - 22 points and 9 rebounds 7.
