Mildon Ambres agreed terms with CSU Sibiu, ex Nacional - Jan 6, 2013

CSU Atlassib Sibiu (Division A) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old American swingman Mildon Ambres (198-103kg-84, college: S.Nazarene). He played recently at Nacional in Uruguayan LUB league. In 11 games this season he recorded very impressive stats: 19.4ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg. The last summer Ambres played at CDP Domingo Paulino Santiago in Dominican Rep. Santiago League. He also played at Idaho Stampede in D-League earlier that season. In 18 games last season he averaged 10.4ppg and 4.3rpg. The previous (10-11) season Ambres played at Forca Lleida (previous name Lleida) in Spanish LEB Gold. In 30 games that year he averaged 9.2ppg and 3.9rpg. In 2008 (a year after he left the college) Ambres was drafted by Idaho Stampede (D-League) in fifth round (67th overall). He attended Southern Nazarene University (NAIA) until 2007 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball. Among other achievements Ambres college team won SAC Tournament in 2007. He received also USBasket.com All-D-League Most Improved Player of the Year award back in 2010. Ambres has played also professionally in Philippines (Barangay Ginebra), Romania (Brasov) and Spain (Lleida Basquet).

American Center Dwayne Curtis (203-C-85) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Aguada, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10 (Second Stage). Curtis turned to be Aguada's top player in his first season with the team. Former The University of Mississippi star has very solid stats this year. Curtis is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 10.5rpg) and averages impressive 60.9% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old American Rodney Alexander (201-F-87) of Olimpia. Alexander had a very good evening with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led Olimpia to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Cordon (#6, 1-10) 86-61. Olimpia's 3rd position in Perman. has not changed. His team's 7-4 record is not bad at all. Alexander is a newcomer at Olimpia, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.8ppg (#2). He also registered 13.3 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Anthony Kent (208-F/C-83) of Promocional 2 second-best Welcome. Kent scored 27 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Welcome, leading his team to a 80-72 win against #4 ranked U Atletica in a game of the week. Welcome needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in Perman.. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 3 lost games. Kent has a very solid season. In 8 games in Uruguay he scored 18.6ppg. He also has 8.5rpg, 2.0bpg and FGP: 52.4%.

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Uruguayans who are currently playing abroad. This week's number one is former international guard Jayson Granger (189-89). Grangerto a victory against the bottom-ranked Armani Milano in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game.

#1. This week's number one is former international guard Jayson Granger (189-89, currently plays in Euroleague). Granger led his Turkish team Anadolu Efes to a victory against the bottom-ranked Armani Milano (7-15) 90-86 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game.
He recorded 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in 29 minutes on the court.
Anadolu Efes Istanbul (11-11) is placed eighth in group A.
This year Granger averages: 8.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 3.8apg, 2FGP: 43.1%, 3FGP: 31.9% and FT: 79.5% in 22 games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Uruguayan and Italian.
Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Granger played for the Uruguayan senior national team two years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international center Mathias Calfani (204-92, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Liga Americas). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Capitanes (1-2) 82-63 in the Liga Americas last Sunday.
Calfani scored 13 points, had 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks.
San Lorenzo de Almagra (3-0) is placed ninth in the Liga Americas.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
The Regular Season already ended in the Liga Americas.
Calfani's overall stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 4.7rpg, 2FGP: 53.3%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 33.3%.
He is in the roster of the Uruguayan senior national team.
#3. The Uruguayan player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International, currently plays in China). Batista was the major contributor in a North Control's victory against the league outsider Guangzhou (6-28) 109-100 in the Chinese CBA on Sunday night.
He had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. Batista also added 4 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals in 36 minutes.
North Control Beijing (8-26) is placed 17th in the CBA.
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
It's Batista's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Batista averages: 17.9ppg, 12.8rpg, 2.5apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 58.3%(247-424) and FT: 58.3% in 33 games.
He is another player who holds two passports: Uruguayan and Spanish.
Batista is also a member of the Uruguayan senior national team.
#4. Point guard Santiago Vidal (180-89, also represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Obras Basket (16-16) 100-83 in the Argentinian LigaA in Sunday night's game.
He recorded 8 points and added 3 assists.
Regatas Corrientes (18-11) is placed fourth in Norte group.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
Vidal's overall stats this season are: 4.6ppg, 2.1rpg and 3.0apg.
He used to play for the Uruguayan national team
back in 2015.
#5. International point guard Bruno Fitipaldo (183-91, another player represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul in a victory against the 12th-ranked FC Barcelona (8-14) 69-62 in the Euroleague last Friday.
Fitipaldo recorded only 4 points in 9 minutes on the court.
Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul (7-15) is placed second from the bottom (#15) in group A.
This year Fitipaldo's overall stats are: 7.6ppg and 3.1apg in eight games.
He plays currently for the Uruguayan national team.
#6. Forward Maximiliano Sole (198-88, another player represented by Duran International, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Lanzarote (7-10) 96-79 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday.
He scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Real Madrid II (13-5) is placed third in Group B.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
Sole has relatively good stats this season: 10.9ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.9apg and 1.7spg.
He is a former international player as he played for the Uruguayan senior team two years ago.
#7. Former U18 international small forward Rodrigo Deus (195-97, currently plays in Spain) could not help Palma II (9-7) in their last game. Despite Deus' good performance the sixth-placed Palma II (9-7) lost 64-72 at home to the second-ranked Mollet in the Group C-B.
He was the second best scorer with 11 points. Deus also added 4 rebounds in 24 minutes.
This year Deus' total stats are: 3.0ppg and 1.7rpg in 15 games.
He used to play for the Uruguayan U18 national team
three years ago.

#1.Facundo Medina (190-G-94, currently plays in Argentina) was the major contributor in Rocamora's victory against the seventh-ranked La Union (5-19) 85-83 in the Argentinian TNA (second division) on Monday night.
Medina scored 23 points and added 5 passes.
Tomas de Rocamora (11-11) is placed fourth in Center South group.
The Regular Season already ended.
Medina has relatively good stats this season: 11.5ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.6apg.
#2. Experienced Brad Kanis (218-C-83, agency: Gamble Sports Management, college: Grand Canyon, currently plays in Spain) could not help Quart (13-3) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the first-placed Quart (13-3) was crushed 98-71 on the road by the much lower-ranked (#8) Igualada in the Group C-B.
Kanis was the top scorer with 18 points. He also added 9 rebounds (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 28 minutes.
Kanis has relatively good stats this year: 10.6ppg and 5.1rpg in 13 games he played so far.
He is a naturalized American.
Kanis used to play for Atletico Welcome in Uruguayan league.
