Richard
Chaney
Experienced American-Puerto Rican Richard Chaney (196-G-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Bigua and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8 (Second Stage).
The 32-year old guard had the game-high 28 points adding eight rebounds and four assists for Bigua in his team's victory, helping them to beat Defensor (#6, 3-5) 96-91. Bigua is placed at 3rd position in their group in Uruguayan LUB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Bigua will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. In the team's last game Chaney had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Bigua's top player in his first season with the team. Richard Chaney averages this season 12.4ppg and 5.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old Dominican Rep. forward Juan Guerrero (201-F-93, agency: Basket Management Solutions) of Cordon. Guerrero impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 28 points and 20 rebounds. It was enough for Cordon to edge Sayago (1-7) by 6 points 99-93. This victory allowed Cordon to move up to 5th position in Perman.. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Cordon managed to get this Second Stage. Guerrero is a newcomer at Cordon and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.6ppg (#9). He also registered 13.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Cordon's star - American Tim Jennings (193-F-83). Jennings showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, five rebounds and seven assists in the last round. He was another key player of Cordon, helping his team with a 99-93 win against Sayago (1-7). Cordon can only dream about fighting for top spots in Perman.. They have rather bad season and 1-7 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Jennings he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Jennings has a very solid season. In 21 games in Uruguay he scored 17.3ppg. He also has 4.2rpg and 4.4apg. Jennings attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Anthony Danridge (196-F-86) of Sayago - 34 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Jeremis Smith (203-F-86) of Aguada - 14 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Mauricio Aguiar (199-F-83) of Defensor - 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Trevante Drye (200-F-93) of Sayago - 25 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Martin Osimani (194-G-81) of Defensor - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists
9. Jeremis Smith (203-F-86) of Aguada - 17 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Omar Canton (206-C-82) of U Atletica - 28 points and 6 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
