Aguada, from Uruguay, crushed Osorno, fromo Chile 112 62 and Pinheiros, from Brazil, defeated Quilemes Mar del Plata (Argentina) 76-67, during the opening games for the Liga Sudamericana Group B, played in Montevideo. For Aguada, Kyle Lamonte (191-G-84, college: William Carey) netted 22 points and added 5 assists, while Hernando Caceres (201-F-94, agency: Pro Sports) scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Dwayne Curtis (203-C-85, college: Mississippi) scored 15 points. For Osorno, Terrell Taylor (203-C-81, college: Virginia Tech) netted 25 points and Durrell Summers (193-SF-89, college: Michigan St.) added 12. The best scorer for Pinheiros was Cordero Bennett (188-G-88), with 18 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds, Ralfio Ansalon netted 17 points and added 7 rebounds, while Chris Ware (203-C-89, college: Indiana Tech) finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted Yes All Gorgan (Superleague) landed 30-year old American center Tyronne McNeal (211-120kg-87, college: Miami Dade CC). He played in the summer at Marne in Uruguayan Metropolitan.
