LPB Finals, Game 5: Marinos - Cocodrilos 77-75 (4-1)
Marios won the LPB title last night. They grabbed 77-75 home win against
Cocodrilos winning the Finals series with almost perfect 4-1. Marinos
were LPB champions also two years ago. Before that, they won the title
in 91, 93, 98, 03, 04 and 05.

Illinois JC) stepped up for the hosts last night with 26 points.
Diego Guevara (184-G-77, college:
Charlotte) followed him with 14 points, while
Oscar Torres (195-F/G-76, agency:
Interperformances) added 12 points, plus 7 boards. In defeat,
Luis Bethelmi (200-C-86) shined with 22 points.
Jack Michael Martinez (203-F/C-81, agency:
Paris Global Sports) scored 19 and
Leandro Garcia Morales (186-G-80, college:
Texas A&M) added 10 pts. Quarters: 17-15, 22-26, 19-19, 19-15.
Marinos were No.2 in regular season with 32-12 record. They eliminated
Gigantes with 4-2 in the Semifinals.
LEB 2011 All-Star Game - East defeats West 112-102- Jul 11, 2011

Venezuela.- The second edition of the All-Star Game was all
success for Liga Especial de Baloncesto (LEB), the secondary U23 league
of LPB, as the East team defeated the West Team 112-102 at the Forum of
Valencia.
The West team was coached by Wilfredo Mejias of Felinos de Miranda and
the roster included
Josmar Acevedo (196-F-90) and
Freddy Toro (201-F-88) of Guardianes de Lara,
Javinger Vargas (206-C-90) and Miguel Ruiz of Dragones de Carabobo,
Hector Diaz and
Drexler Mejias (F-93) of Felinos de Miranda,
Jesus Tovar (183-G-90) and Maolin Colina of Estrellas de Aragua and
Moises Teixeira and Donyi Pino of Furreros de Cojedes.

LPB 2011 News - All-Star game introduces roster, coaches and contests- Jul 11, 2011

Venezuela.- The main board of Liga Profesional de Baloncesto
(LPB) introduced the 34th edition of the LPB All-Star Game, to be played
at the Forum of Valencia on May 7th between Criollos (Venezuelan
players) and Importados (Foreign players), in a matchday that includes
the second edition of the LEB Future All-Star Game and contests
involving dunks and three-point shots.
This time, the league will honor the team that won the Gold Medal for
Venezuela in the South American Championship of 1991, played at the
Forum of Valencia. Venezuela defeated Brazil for the Gold medal on May
26th, 1991, in a game that required extra time. It is still the only
Gold medal won by Venezuela in this kind of tournament.
The same generation of players had advanced to the FIBA World Cup of
1990 in Argentina and later on got the Silver Medal in the FIBA Americas
Pre Olympic Tournament played in Portland in 1992. Venezuela advanced to
its first an only appearance in the Olympic Games in Barcelona 1992.
